There's flyfishing for trophy sized rainbows and browns in Pass Lake. Cranberry lake has some good trout fishing it as well. Both are in the state park.

If your boat is on a trailer, you could Launch at Fort Casey, right next to the PT ferry, 30 minute drive from Deception, and fish Mid Channel Bank, or Laggon Pt. and Bush Pt. and Admirlty Bay

I don't know the North end of Camano well, but there is good fishing there, as well as Dynes Pt. area near the Greenbank farm in Saratoga Passage.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but some guys who live on the N. end of the island may be a better source.

Also. Contact the Ace Hardware in Oak Harbor for local fishing info. as well as that popular shop in Burlington, I think it's called the Holliday Market on Hwy 20. ???

Good Luck,
Jeff

Depending on your boat size and the weather you could certainly launch there and run out to hein or coyote banks for blackmouth.

Be careful with the tide change around deception in that small of a boat. It can rip quite a few knots through the pass and that carries over quite a ways inside the pass. Weird currents abound.

I'd leave the motor at home and fish chronomids on Pass Lake.

Yeah, you can't use motors on Pass Lake period, electric or gas. I'd stay outta the salt under the bridge in a boat that small too. There are some rogue currents in there that do all kinds of weird stuff. The average tide change current is 6 knots with maximum is around 9 knots. Whirlpools open up that would look like a category 5 tornado (in reverse) in a boat that small.

Negative on that 10 footer in the pass. Even if you are there during slack chances are a bigger boat is going to come through pushing a big wake and get you real wet. Deception is no place for a 10 footer.

Ditto on the Pass Lake suggestions.

You can't even have a MOTOR on your boat at Pass Lake

You should be able to find some smelt and herring to jig from the dock at Cornet Bay. Then you can use what you catch, head over to North Beach(SW of the bridge) and fish from the shore. I know there are lots of bottomfish there, but I've only been fortunate to catch greenling and some of the most colorful sculpin I've seen in WA. Just don't let your line drift into the kelp or you'll end up breaking off every time. Best time to hit that area is during a slack tide. The back eddy is a great place to fish when the current isn't ripping as many fish hold there especially migratory ones such as salmonids or foragefish(baitfish in fishermen's terms). You might want to bring lots of lead with you if you plan on fishing bait since it can be snaggy. Salmon jigs should work well here for all bottomfish but you'll probably want to have more than a handful for yourself.

Best of luck and tell us how you do, what worked for you, etc...
