Thanks for the replies all, I did not get them till now but they are right on none the less. The guy that I went with has been fishing up there for years (20+) and has a differant idea than the canadians when it comes to fishing. He may not have the steady action, but he always catches bigger fish. We used his methods more than not and only got two decent fish, 32 and 24, but he said the amnount of coho really were interferring with his fishing style.
I know people do not go up there for coho, but my understanding is there are not normally this many this early, and decent size for this early too. We kept one the last day when we did not reach our Spring possesion limit that was 8 lbs clipped and we released several that were 9+.
We did get some Lings and small halibut on the second day while searching deeper, as the Springs were not to be found. Overall it was a bit early, and there were only 3-6 boats outside each day, very light pressure.
We stayed at Chinootka Lodge, across from Critter Cove, it was a 10 mile run to Friendly cove and another 10 to Bajo reef, the last 10 in the slop and swells. Gas was indeed over 1.00/liter, actually 1.06 at CC. Glad I had a small boat for that reason, 40 miles out and back at Bajo was 16 Gal.
Will post a pic of my 24 when I get everything downloaded, right now I need sleep. Good luck to all of you going later this summer, I'm envious, but I just could not pass up the better rates now and thanks for the replies.
