I may have missed a thread on this, but I heard a rumor that the Aug. 1st opening was pushed out. No big surprise.

um... duh! 63 steelies reported as of last week. I should think there is not a chance in heck that they will open. We will have to wait until the fall rains come and push the fish up before they will open it. Believed this happened a number of years back as well. Good thing about it was that the fish simply did not come in which made for a horrible year. Following year, however, had very large summer runs returning because they had stayed out in the salt for an extra year. We may see similar events this year.

Fished it a couple of times last year when it was deserted. No one around the entire time I was fishing. Last I checked I enjoy fishing areas like that. As long as you avoid the opener and the weekends it really isnt so bad. Locally it follows rule number one of fishing- fish where there are fish. They shoot the sky pretty darn quick and then hole up on the high end. Why not fish for em where they are?

I hate it there aslo. Too many people all mad at each other. I like to float the river to get away from all that. I use that place for a guage on how all my little hidie spots will fish.

Almost 50% of the fish (71) came from the Wallace......not surprised that it's not opening on August 1st again this year.

Ha! That was funny!

I'd say that sounds like a Husky Football Fan, but we are not going to be any better this year, or the next.....

It's gonna be a while before you hear the woofing again.

Parker,

I don't look forward to fishing Reiter, but I have a couple fond memories of fishing there in the mid to late 70s. One July I pitched a marabou streamer out in the main pool and hooked a summer run that took me all the way down to the next pool to land it, which required some rather fancy dancin' on the rough "train" along the river bank there. I've had some fun fishing around there and would do so again if circumstances seemed favorable.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Parker--
I can't believe you are ranking on Rieter. You were there at least 6 times last year. And you had a big fish wacker as well.

Watch out for Parker, He is the one with the net running up and down the bank.
Never trust a bankie with a net :p :p

Ok, the part about having a big fish whacker is true, \:D but man, I gotta stop sniffing that glue, as I don't recall ever going to Reiter in the 2004-2005 season!

I am pretty sure your right about the Dawgs, its going to be a few years before we can Howl. I understand we have got a few good verbal commitments from some in state studs for next year.
