Salmo's got it right on.

I've seen this before on the coast. Apparently the tribes or so familiar with their fish, after generations of stewardship, that they can't even tell the difference between a buck and a hen. They cut them all open and take the eggs from the hens.

Available at a tackle shop near you. This is why I have not bought eggs for over ten years. Everytime I open up a bait fridge I can only vision dead wild steelhead and dead kings rotting at the boat ramp !

I recently read your e-mail reply to the thread at g amefishing.com. In this message you state that ordinance 7.02.120 (k) makes it illegal for tribal members to discard fish anywhere except for authorized locations. Is the river one of these authorized locations? If not why wasn't anything mentioned about the tribe taking legal action against the party responsible?

The tone of your e-mail shows that the tribe is not concerned about this issue and plans to take no further action to make sure it is not repeated. Enforcing your own ordinance would be a good place to start. If I have misunderstood your message I apologize and would ask that you clarify further.

Also, it is sad to see this activity continue even after your tribe established the above ordinance and received a grant in the range of $90,000+.

At the bottom of your message you state:

"We would welcome the chance to educate your members rather than have them spread misguided information."

What misguided information is being spread? The pictures speak for themselves and per your tribe this is illegal. Why haven't the tribal police taken any action?

If you have pictures or other evidence of Tribal members allegedly dumping fish in the river, please make it available to us. I will gladly forward that information to enforcement so they can take action.

It's too bad Mr. Wolf skipped around the real issue. All he seems concerned about is that they not be dumped into the river. No concern with wasting a resource. Too Bad, Too Bad.

The Tribes sure frustrate me, I can't stand their blatant waste and the great press they get for being "stewards", what a joke. The Treaties need to be done with and let them make an honest living.

What really floors me about the response letter is that they seem totally oblivious to the fact that we are not pissed about how the fish are disposed of but the fact they are disposed of in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is waste! sportsfishermen pay big bucks to catch fish like these. To see this non chaulant atitude towards these fish is disgusting!

I don't know what bends my nose out of shape more........this crap, or the fact that every property owner I know on that river either has or is going to post their property 'No Trespassing' because my fishing counterparts are such freaking pigs.

They don't like what the tribe does there, but they're tired of picking up trash from us and they can do something about that.

Dozens of places on the Wynoochee closed, places all over the Skok closed to access because we leave garbage everywhere.

Glass houses and all that, you know?

Maybe I should have taken pictures of the three garbage cans full of beer bottles too. Or all the other stuff dumped under the bridge by the stewards.

This is nothing new with wasting fish for there eggs. Nothing is going to happen to any of the tribes any time soon. There is one thing is that the other tribes around the area concider the Skok tribe skum they have know respect for that tribe at all. I was told it is the younger tribal members that is making a bad name for the Skoks. The place should be taken off the map along with Neah Bay and re-built.

Looking at the pictures, I don't think this guy even took the eggs... these fish were just left to rot.
Remember though guys and gals that one bad apple does not make a bad crop. The Skok Tribe as a whole does not support waste of fish. I think the response you recieved from Wolf was not well thought through. Maybe he will reconsider his letter and provide some more explaination. Who knows, maybe the boat belongs to him?

There are plenty of non tribal scum bags out there disrespecting the resource. How about the "great Alaskan fishermen" that go up every year and bring hundreds of pounds of salmon and halibut home to rot in their freezers? Not as blatant, but still just as wastefull! Or the scum that litter the banks with beer cans and bait containers? Of course, the list could go on and on....
This stuff all makes me sick.
