FYI--It closes this Friday at Sekiu (MA5).

In most years, the peak is middle two weeks in September. After that, it's mostly natives.

I'm headed up tomorrow. Will report back. From talking with several people, sounds like the best fishing of the season was on Thursday and Friday. Of course, Olsens Resort is still saying things are GREAT!

I just can't believe that good fishing is only going to last two days at Sekiu.

Just returned from Sekiu. Fished Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday a.m. Fishing was spotty, but if you found a pod of hatchery fish, you could fill out quickly.

Thursday we were done at 9 a.m - two hours.
Friday took us about 5 hours to get our limits.
Saturday was about 7 hours of fishing for two fish, although one was 14.5 lbs.
Sunday took us 5 hours and the last fish hit on as I was getting ready to pull the gear.

Best set-up for us was a prism or chrome size 0 dodger with the blue Grand Slam bucktail rigged with 50# mono and 6/0 siwash fished 18" behind the dodger. I added a slice of herring for taste to the hook. Most fish came between 25' and 40'.

Most of the fish were caught out in the shipping lanes or separation zone in 650' to 700' of water. The big fish was caught just north of Mussolini Rock in 450' of water.

In talking with folks at the Coho Resort and the fish checkers, it seems like the fish are moving through in bunches. Fishing can be really good for a couple of days and then it drops off until a new bunch shows up.
