They ain't really worth a hook and a bobber are they? Why play with dog food? If you're really bored I guess. I do like the looks of 'em though. I wouldn't mind catching one in the salt, never have.

yeah they are and $3.50 of prawn tails at QFC

What a board of purists I have come upon... you hook a high teen bright chum and you would be excited as hell and enjoy the fight even more so on a double digit day of them... Or does everyone just straight line em'? I know the answer..So no need to reply

I think I'm beginning to agree with you. Chum are a damn tough fight....bring 'em in and send them back to make more like them. I keep a few for the smoker, and they are all nice fish too.

No worries BenWa, you can come up here and Chum fish with me anytime..the hell with these dicks.

Some guys just want to impress us with their high and mighty standards and obvious (aka oblivious) supreme talent and skills. LOL

We're not worthy!! ;\)

Now the guys who get a kick out of blantantly snagging, flossing, mud jigging, etc these doggies are a real special breed (inbred?). You can find them lined up elbow to elbow along the spawning beds snagging fish on every other cast, dragging them up the sand\rocks, kicking them back in, and getting back in line for more.... Ahhh, good times \:\)

Wow, this BB is full of GOD like people. It must be nice to be better than everyone else. So the only reason you hero's fish is for the tasty fish?

I think you need to slow down and enjoy the body of water that you are on. Maybe ponder the the troubles of the fish that have traveled so far just to annoy you.

Oh yeah, I just hate it when there is a tug at the end of my line. :p

Local you must be brighter than your last post, if you have made it this far in life. Please think before you post in the future. Thanks

Sad to find that some guys think that if a fish doesn't look like this...

.
....then it ain't worth the effort. Hell, my handle is ISO CHROME...and I do..but I'll be damned if I'm going to turn down a worthy adversary like a hard fighting Chum just because he ain't so pretty.

Like the man said...if your flossing boots, well, that's one thing, but if your chasing Chum with a spinner in big water then that's a different story entirely.

I like them so much I'm going after a few more come Sat/Sun. In all honesty I'm after late Coho...but any Chum found along the way are a welcome battle.

Chum are just plain fun to catch and release when appropriate.

As for eating, it is all about marketing - have you ever seen/purchased Keta salmon? Sounds more palatable than chum/dog.......

If you like catching fish, you like chum, yeah, I would rather catch a king, but hey, I learned how to catch steelhead by mindlessly, day afer day catching chum. So they suck to eat, who cares, throw 'em back, keep a mostly bright one, learn to fish. I used to fish for 'em all the time. I don't go much now 'cuz I'm addicted to the Sol duc and a couple other forks area rivers, but if I just need to itch the fishing bug for a day, hey, chums are great. Don't like 'em, don't fish for 'em.

Careful, the GAWD peoples are everywhere.

Pat Robertson says that chum-loving will destroy the moral fabric of our nation. If all this chum-loving continues we will never win the war on terror.

Thank you Mike for the best line in this thread. If I could get away with it, it would be my signature line.
