I've re-read the thread. I'm trying to moderate this thread for you Row, but I can't.

From my perspective, Milt asked a question and got a good, legit answer back from TBird.

From there, it was the usual friendly, probably pointless, non-threatening jabber. Some language and humor was used that you *might* find offensive, but I don't think the majority here do.

Finally, the two parties came to a good conclusion/resolution and even ended in some more friendly jabber.

If I'm wrong, please speak up and I'll moderate away.

the kid's doing just fine without your help \:\)

for the record, the "kid" had been repeatedly asking the same question. T was just trying to steer him in a more productive direction. He was (i believe) using humor and sarcasm... we like that here. If i'm not mistaken "the quaalude" reference was a pun on "the quallute", the misspelled river in the thread title. I got it, and thought it was funny...

T's post may have been critical (nothing wrong with that), but overall it reads as being encouraging.

"I will stand up for kids"- so now you are the "human filter"?

in parting, it does seem odd to me that you have been called worse by better...How do you know how good I am?

Parker-- Well I don't think it's right to be suggesting qualudes to kids nor do I condone asking them if they like a certain type of beer. Do you? Certainly when all they are trying to do is gleen a little knowledge out of people they may or may not look up to.

If I called up a guide or friend, or even an acquaintance and asked conditions relating to an up coming event I would certainly hope they would give me a better response than "come over and find out"

Maybe I'm just looking to be a crash test dummy, but I think that they both have points.

Tbird probably shouldn't be telling minors to take drugs. And could probably post fewer non-fishing related posts. But he seems like a nice, funny guy and you can kind of tell that is his style.

RVW should realize that Tbird probably just said something that many others (including myself) were feeling. The constant, "How is fishing on River X?" from a new member gets old in a hurry. Especially when each time is followed by, "Well, I can't fish it anyway because of X".

Work is slow... that is my excuse for chiming in. I'll try to post some sort of report (probably detailing lack of success) soon. In the mean time, you guys should put some Mexican Wrestler Masks on to bump up the entertainment value on this match.

What was so offensive about that Parker all he said "was the kid asks for help and gets dissed. What a bunch of loosers." Is that more offensive than take a qualude. Or is it because you're defending your buddies?

slow here too, my turn to chime in with something nobody cares about. I have to agree with hohbomb. The qualude reference was obviously a play on the kids spelling.

I do think that T-bird is pretty darn quick to chime in with the "go find out for yourself" when someone asks about a river. Wanting up to date reports is probably the weekend warriors number one reason for joining a site like this. If you have a dozen rivers to fish on the weekend and someone can give you a report from within the week, it could help your deicision on where to go. If there question is not ignored or met with sarcasm maybe they can contribute something positive just like I am right now!

I'm not defending anyone. Just don't see any reason to either

a) Edit or moderate this thread
b) Find anything wrong with what either party said, or how they reacted to it.
c) The only person here who has any right to complain is Milton Jo - and he has *not*.

Yeah, you can pretty much guarantee that if you come on to PP as a first-time poster and tell us we're a bunch of losers, you're not going to get treated well here by the moderators.

You've been here long enough RVW to freely call me a loser. Heck, I'd almost expect it. \:D

PS. I will never moderate references to booze, drugs, sex, swearing, humor, friendly jabs, ribbings, etc. I'm not here to moderate what you think our morals and values should be, or what you think is or isn't offensive. I'll leave that up to Bob and his filters.

I just try to make sure topics stay mostly on track, or if anything, don't turn in to ugly and pointless arguments, pointed personal attacks, and/or name calling threads.

Wow things are hot tonight. But, if I were still in high school and lived 150miles from Forks I would wonder how the fishing was there before heading that way. 15 miles to the gallon divided by 150miles =10gallons of gas, round trip 20gallons. @2.31 per gallon. That is a great deal of money for a high school kid.

I would ask how the fishing is? But, I would rather say tight lines and good luck to those who do go fishing.

By the way, Blackmouth are hitting well in Puget Sound. OOPS!

Fishjager, only north of Tacoma is gas $2.31/gal. Probably due to your close proximity to Bellevue, where money grows on trees. lol. It's 2.54 in Oly.

Roevswade, if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Or on the Mariners board where backbiting and snide remarks are standard fare.

Oh dammmm, I guess I'll be keeping that suggestion to myself.

BTW, In the US the marketing of quaaludes stopped in 1984, they and were transferred to Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, making it an illegal substance in USA as well as a number of other countries.

I've handled and given literally gallons of morphine and dilaudid, pounds and pounds of oxy, and I've never ever seen a 'lude. I've pulled tablets outs of a couple OD victims pockets, and they claimed they were Disco Biscuits, but they turned out to be valium.

As addictive as they turned out to be, I'd still trade our meth heads for quack heads any day.

And finaly, Milton you did a good job of letting stuff roll right off ya. I know TBird, and he probably feels a little sheepish after he found out you were some poor kid still in HS, thinking of living the dream in Forks.

TBird you bad man. Shame on you. Grab yourself a beer, your restricted to the bar.

VHawk, you should make fish quaaludes. Krill powder with 714 stamped on them.

...or on another site, where there are more uptight people.

The "kid" certainly didn't post stating all of his situation. Can you even drive out to forks at all when yer 15??

I find that i often (not always) get a specific answer off this site when I ask a specific question. Those of us who aren't new to the site should already know what to expect from a report posted about a river we don't know about by someone we don't know...

sure, you'd get different reports from a friend. That's why I don't wanna come of sounding like a dick when I put someone down on this site... Would I get an accurate reprt from T? I dunno, we've never met. I'd be more likely too though if I'm nice to him.

...seems like most folks lurk here before they register. They know what they are getting in to here.

The internet has changed everything. There used to be a different learning curve. It hasn't always been possible to sit on a couch and "gleen" info from "anonymous experts"... Those who don't know the tradition may need to have it explained. If you don't know how to cast: practice in yer yard. If you don't know what gear to use: buy a book. If you don't know where to go: hire a guide. If you can't afford one: go do some exploring. These are not things which can be provided for on this site (except for the finding a guide part).

For all you lurkers and underaged newbies:
Feel free to ask anything you want. However, you will acquire much more here by asking about techniques (for example) than which rock to stand on at what time. And if you don't know why it sounds silly to some of us to ask "How's the fishing in February in Forks", then it may be time for you to go to Fork's in February... or better yet, hire a guide \:\)

Holy Crap..somebody better get Bob on the phone and tell him he better get rid of the reports section and the resource section of this site. We'll have none of that here

I love how report type questions are always met with the "which rock to stand on" response

Parker - That's fair I don't want it to be personal but sometimes I think people forget what these boards are for, sharing fishing info. No matter how many posts someone has should in no way affect their ability to express themselves and opinions (within reasonable guidelines). That kind of censorship only adds to the deterioation of the bb. Everything else is fine in it's proper place. I think that if someone asks for a report, that is in line with the purpose of the bb.

One should not be afraid to ask a question and get an honest response. I am not getting in the way of the local good 'ol boys club but Milton is new and should be treated with due respect. The rest of you guys know each other and most of us try to stay out of the inside jokes. Some people here are young and as adults we should set an example.

There is lots of talk about ethics and morality on here regarding wild fish and the resources (which I respect) that should also carry over to our conduct off the water also. We should nurture and teach the younger generation if we expect to ever save any run of fish. Being flippant and unhelpful is not the right way to accomplish that. IMHO

rvw, you dont need to be pissin and moanin about somethin like that, even if you regularily contributed to the board i still dont think people would give a crap if your just going to b1tch

as for the problem here, in my time on this board i have found that its kind of ettitiquette not to ask for reports...people will post reports if they feel they need to and thats about the best you will get

I don't think it was he asked for a report ... I offered a pretty much sums it up report right after the initial posting. It didn't seem to be what he wanted to hear and more requests kept coming ... that can be annoying to many. One thing about these rivers ... what happens today means nothing tomorrow, even less a few days out, and somehow even less a few weeks out ... water fluctuations are just too great ;\)

I think that is true about a good chunk of the people here. I will give reports if I have them and I know others that will too. Here's a great idea... If you dont want to don't, but also do everyone a favor and fight the urge to be a smart ass in the process
