Mark kep accusing me of being a Guide, due to the size of my orders. He was gracious enough to tie patterns to my whim and without reservation, this is my favorite coloration and I drive it almost expressly for Steelies. Size "small" is my favorite, but I hang alotta fish on "micro's" in low water. The inherent flotation of a modest cork,is enough to automatically hook fish, with the svelte gauge smalls and micro's. Great way to get kids rolling fish on their own............

Part of the R&D process. The dreaded Retard Bobber,a high phallutin' slip float and my bread and butter cork. In high winds(a constant here),one can dredge distant waters with the cork's aid, less spooking fish in the process. Several of my favorite haunts can only be effectively fished in that manner and it's a hoot to roll a Big Steelie 100yds away. I'm a great fan of results and perpetual R&D drives me......................

Always did enjoy the banter of those on the sidelines, doing the armchair quarterback gig.
There's a constant in this World...it's far easier to BS the fans, than it is the players.
Have been starting firststring, for a very long while.....................

bota2,
The 5/0 LazerSharp is without peer,as is a short shot of 3/16" hollowcore pencil lead, threaded above the eye.
In that configuration, the hook "flies" straight and there is no obstruction upon the shank,to impeded penetration into flesh,so retention is a pretty high percentage affair.
If you aren't sweating,you ain't Fishing...................

wntrrn,
The Float Technique is boundless in variation.
To get where I'm at,I begr=udgingly aborted mono mainlines, went braid expressly, fought long Float Rods tooth and nail,as well as holstering the casting reels,as applied to terminal tackle.
As to subtle nuance in the presentation...it can be summed easily,in that presentation is EVERYTHING.
Have aborted the slip float notions, have far more faith in the way static floats fish and like svelte rigging on the average.
I've paid my dues and have run the gamut......................

I simply employ whichever technique is gonna bear the most fruit.
The cork often gets the nod,but I'm happiest when fishing weightless, with fresh cured roe......................
