McCoy meangreen is the single worst line I've ever tried to tie.
Brittle, knots basically unwravelled themselves.
I was amazed at how bad it was.
BTW, good job Vince!

Water is stupid low currently, with bays/inlets frozen tight and Steelheading is on the backburner, until it rains.

Woof Chasing Mode, now,as a lark pursuit.

Well yet again a potentially world-class valuable thread gets hijacked into a IAMSOAWESOMELOOKATME thread, and yet again it's the same culprit.

Hey Big Stick, is it legal to bag Steelhead with a .300 WSSM? Didn't know there was a season for that.

You must take a pretty big dog along while fishing, those tracks are at least as big as the head on that fish...

I don't see any sea-lice on the bonked fish above.

I was wondering if the scope on the rifle was really ethical to bag a steelie, because wouldn't you be fishing someone else's water?

VHawk I noticed you are testing Big Game Hi Vis,I have heard the regular Big Game has the highest breaking strength. Curious to hear how barasion resistant these lines are. I have always used Maxima for drift fishing. I may change my tune after this thread, who knows.-AA

Thanks, Vince. Along with stories/pics coming from FnP and Vedder, this is one of the coolest things I've seen on this board in a while. I can only hope this thread stays true to its title.

Why use bullets?
Just the concussion fromthe muzzle blast of 70grs of H414 would be like a Dupont spinner....
All you need then is a net.
Have you seen copper prices?
I can't afford to cap mine.

Thank you Big Daddy, and Parker for trying to keep this thread on topic. I'm almost done with the actual testing, just taking a break. Its a lot more time consuming than I imagined. Some of the results will cause a stir (I did some of the analysis during a long azzed meeting today).

I'll share this much, the right amount of line stretch may be just as important as abrasion resistance, especially in lighter lines. I did not measure stretch during these tests, but different lines stretched different amounts AND how they stretched. Some lines didn't budge until they hit greater than 50% actual breaking strength, some lines stretched right away, and some lines didn't budge until they were close to failure.

A man could go crazy trying to figure out the implications. But fishing favors those that think. What would be cool is a table that lists what line characteristics are favored for certain types of fishing. Could match that up with groups of lines that meet those characteristics. If anything this testing will open up my selection of Go-To lines.

New thread with the results tommorrow afternoon.

Vhawk
