Looks like I dropped the ball on that one, man. I owe Batson's an appology. I still have a free shirt and hooded pullover for them, and if they'd like to bail as a sponsor because I forgot to include their logo, that's cool.
If that's the only thing that get's fuc%ed up I think we've done okay. Cool logo Sol, where can I get a hooded pullover? Sol, I hope there is something left of you when this is over...it seems to have taken a major toll on you. Aren't Joe or Todd helping you at all? So next year for SolFly II.....no tourney, no entry fee, just a bunch of fisherpeople getting together for a good time? Don't sweat the f ups dude.... Ike

Okay folks. Fly and I and Graham looked at the property last Saturday and firmed-up on the final details. The property is PERFECT. To get there, turn off Highway 101 at the Smokehouse Restaurant onto the Lapush Road. Take a right at the Three Rivers Store, cross the Sol Duc and keep going until you pass Richwine Road on the left. The very next left after Richwine Road is the road into the country Park. Turn left into the park. At the end of the straight-of-way you will see a big field to your left. My trailer and other vehicles will be visible.
We finally have a permit in hand. Here are the final rules. Please note: Everyone will be required to sign a copy of these rules for our records at morning registration.
C.E.O’s: Joe Superfisky & Tim Wallis LEGAL: Todd Ripley SPONSORS: Lamiglas (rods), Rainshadow (blanks), Vision Tackle, Salmon Trout Steelheader, Ultimate Egg Cure, rvrfshr, morningbite.com.
1. You must sign in and pay the $40.00 event fee at the registration booth (a 24-foot travel trailer) in the big dirt parking lot directly across Highway 101 from the diner in Forks, Wa. between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM on Saturday, March 24th (between The Inn Place and Olympic Sporting Goods). If the event is rained out and rivers are predicted not to be fishable on that day, the event will be held the following Saturday, March 31st.
2. If you pre-registered and paid for a t-shirt, it will be handed out at that time. We will also be installing the required tournament sticker on the rod or rods you intend on using in the derby at that time, so bring them with you to the registration table (butt section only if possible).
3. The event fee of $40.00 (cash only) will be used as follows: 50% of the entry fee money collected will be donated to Snider Creek Broodstock Program. The other 50% will be split between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for steelhead, and the 1st place winner for salmon (spring kings will not be present on O.P. rivers in large numbers). 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for steelhead will receive 20%, 10% and 5% of the proceeds, respectively, and the 1st place winner for salmon will receive 15% of the proceeds. If the salmon category goes unfilled, that money will be added to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for steelhead. Hence forth, the distribution would be 25%, 15% and 10%, respectively. Our permit allows for prize money distribution up to $5000. If more than 250 people register (god help us), money beyond that limit will be donated to the Snider Creek Broodstock Program.
4. You may fish the Quillayute, Bogachiel, Sol Duc, Calawah, Dickey, Hoh and Clearwater Rivers, ONLY. Fishing within the Olympic National Park will be prohibited and W.D.F.W. rules must be followed. That means fish shall NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE WATER. Fishing on tribal lands will be prohibited. Please note: This event is catch & release on native steelhead. Anyone killing a wild steelhead will be disqualified from competition and will be banned from future events. Spring Chinook may be killed if legal to do so and may be entered for prize money, as well as hatchery steelhead (if you catch one big enough to compete with native fish---unlikely).
5. Guides may fish in the tournament if they register and pay with everyone else. Also, everyone fishing from a boat must be registered in the tournament if any one person in that boat wishes to enter a fish for prize money.
6. You MUST be off the river and back for the awards ceremony to be held on Graham’s property (Graham’s Property: Turn off Highway 101 at the Smokehouse Restaurant onto the Lapush Road. Take a right at the Three Rivers Store and keep going until you pass Richwine Road on the left. The very next left after Richwine Road is the road into the country Park. Turn left into the park. At the end of the straight-of-way you will see a big field to your left. My trailer and other vehicles will be visible.) at or BEFORE 5:00 PM. Anyone showing up after 5:00 PM will be disqualified from consideration as a winner.
7. No measurements of fish with a rag tape will be allowed per requirements that WDFW put on our permit. Therefore, your rod will be our only yardstick for determining winners. Slide your fish into shallow water: Lay your rod along the fish’s length with the rod butt flush with the fish’s tail. The sticker we install on your rods during registration in the morning MUST be clearly visible in this frame for the fish to be considered for awards. Make sure the shot is clear and full-frame.
8. Again, digital cameras with photos of potential winners need to be checked in at my trailer on Graham’s property AT OR BEFORE 5:00 PM for review by the “rules committee.” This will consist of Joe Superfisky, Todd Ripley and myself. PLEASE erase photos not specifically related to tournament winning fish from your memory cards, as we will require you to extract the card from your camera so we can download images for review on Fly’s laptop for close inspection. Our decision on winners will be FINAL.
9. Winners will be announced at 5:30 PM. We’ll print out 8”x11” pictures of the winning fish to post on-site, followed by raffling of door prizes and lighting of the Last Man Standing Bon-fire.
10. Be prepared to camp out, meet some cool people and cut loose SolFly style. That means bring your own beer as well as a tent or camper to stay in that evening. This is going to be a casual tailgate type party, so bring your hibachis and something to grill yourself for diner. Joe and I will be in or around camp all day to keep an eye on any rigs left there during the day. For people hitting town a day or two early: Please DO NOT park at this location until after registration Saturday morning.
11. Solid Waste: Pack it in, pack it out. Littering will not be tolerated.
12. Septic Waste: We will provide an on-site Honey Bucket, and there is a bathroom in the parking lot at the county park across the street as well.
13. The participants are fully responsible for their own actions. The SolFly Tournament and its organizers will not be liable for any acts or omissions by any of the Tournament participants. Please be safe and courteous while on the rivers, on your way to and from the rivers, and while interacting with non-Tournament people on the rivers and off. You are solely responsible for bringing and consuming alcoholic beverages, and the Grahams, the SolFly organizers, it’s agents or assigns will not be held liable for any and all activity that may result. Please, party smart. Stay on-site following festivities or have a designated driver.
14. Any questions or concerns about the rules and their interpretation, or any situations that come up that aren’t covered clearly by the above rules, will be dealt with by Tim, Joe, and Todd on-site on Saturday afternoon before the Winners are awarded. Their decision(s) will be final.
Keep your fingers crossed on the weather. If our rivers look like they are going to be puked a few days before, I'll put out an addendum stating we will default to the following Saturday.
-Sol
