Decent show, he's still good, has been for 45 years ot whatever. If you compare by age, the Rolling Stones were way better. I guess I forgot to take acid and Geritol. Robert Cray band was the opener, they would have one upped Clapton if it weren't for his reputation and longevity. IMHO.....Any of you there?

I recommend the Cream reunion concert that was held at the Royal Albert Hall in 2006. Clapton played better and harder than anything I had seen him do for years. It's available on Netflix, probably in some video stores as well. Jack Bruce looks like he has one foot in the grave (which I believe is true, he has had a liver transplant) but he still sings and plays bass so well. Ginger Baker is just damn good. Maybe the best rock drummer ever.

If you're talking DVD's rent Crossroads Guitar Fest. It's two disks though.

I think those are two different vids. Crossroads from Albert Hall is Cream reunited. The Guitarfest, which I think was in Austin, has a lot of different guitar players, playing with a group or with Clapton and others.
Both have been on the tube and are great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either. The Cream reunited is all Cream material and Guitarfest guitar slingers play different blues tunes.
Both vids are great.

I know he can't be compared to the Stones, he was still good, just not what I expected. The acoustic songs were the best part of the show.

Lets not forget "Blind Faith". That was pre-Cream. He is boring to listen to now. Lots of good new stuff out now but hard to find in main media.

Actually Blind Faith was post Cream, and the "supergroup" had no staying power due to egos and Clapton wanting to pursue a more experimental approach . Eric Clapton is a fine guitarist, but his early work is far more gutsy than some of his later middle of the road recordings. I would give a nod to Jeff Beck as far as a live show. Hell I'll go see anyone though.

I really enjoyed the concert. I wasn't expecting as much blues music, though. Overall I was more than satisfied. Can't really compare to the Stones. Jagger puts a lot of effort into showmanship. The Clapton concert was about the music and nothing else in my opinion. Anybody who can compose and perform music that is well received over a 40 year period has a lot to offer. I'm also a Stones fan, but I don't pretend their music is at all sophisticated - it's just fun bad boy rock n' roll.

I'd never seen Clapton live before, so I'm glad we went to this show.

EC is doing another "Crossroads" benefit. Sounds like several guitar players are on board:

I've seen both live and actually Jeff Beck was one of the best guitar performances I'd ever seen. That was a long time ago though.
