My Dad got seasick enough that he had to quit commercial fishing in '50's because of it. He loved to go fishing on the salt and got sick almost every time. Poor guy tried most everything but it wasn't until he tried the wrist bands and the ginger pills from the health food store that he had any success, so that's what I'd suggest you try along with rest, no hangover, ginger ale and saltines. Even at that, it may not help. Here's an old sea story for you - I've been sick once - on the tailend of a typhoon in the South China Sea. We took a 44 degree roll in a 250 foot ship. It was a bit rough and that ship was tossed around like it weighted nothing.

I have been sea sick since I was 2 or 3 years old, but I love the ocean. I have been sick on about every charter boat out of westport and illwaco, even in the calmest conditions. I have puked so bad at the canadian princess they came in early, even though I wanted to keep fishing, the guide called me hard core. It may have been the swells combined with the diesel smell, but I found a cure. I bought my own 30 ft. twin gas engine boat, I bought gravol from a canadian store, and I troll. At Swiftsure and La Peruse Banks I use downriggers on the bottom and troll 2.5 - 3.0 mph. I catch Halibut, Lingcod, Kings and Silvers all on the bottom. With the boat always moving and the Gravol taken the night before and that morning I felt great. Probably owning my own boat and having to pay attention helped me never even get sleepy. So buy a big boat, always troll, and take Gravol. It worked wonders for me. ( I told the wife it was a Yacht, now I have to take her on trips to Nanaimo and Cambell river so she can tell her girlfriends she spent two weeks on her yacht. Don't you dare tell her it's a fishing boat. My friends are amazed my wife picked out a 30 ft. boat for me so I wouldn't get sea-sick.)

I hit 39 in the Bering on a 217, thought for sure I was a goner on that one. Still didn't get sick, I was the guy that had to go face the cap'n and tell him the factory shut down because a couple people had broken bones from getting tossed around inside the bobber. I didn't get any response, so I went back to the galley to watch people get sick. Big seas fill the bilges.

Thanks for all the good advice! Gratefully, I did not get sick. Unfortunately fishing sucked. But, in hopes this will help someone else ... I wore the wrist bands, took ginger pills and took motion sickness pills containing meclizine (different stuff than the patch or dramamine which had failed before for me). Now, my only problem is I don't know what did it or if it was the combo - in future, I'll use all three again. I didn't feel sick at all.
