No 70+ pounders for me.
This is the biggest one I'll claim, I've caught bigger boots in the same river. No scale, it was a heavy fish, especially after carrying it, a silver, 2 jacks and the kitchen sink about a mile to my car. I'm 6' and the tail is about 1/2" off the ground. 15# line, 12# leader.
Not the best picture, it was in partial shade with a disposable camera.

My best king was 40 best on my boat 45. Barkley sound offshore.
Best silver under 10 same for the boat.

Halibut 68 Best one on the boat went to a green rookie and was 109.

Kings: a few around 40 Lbs.

2 18.5 Lb Coho, 2 years apart, at the exact same spot using the exact same type of spoon.

This brings up a questions. Last year I was fishing the Quilleute and talking with a local guide and a friend that has been fishing for years there. I know the friend has gotten at least 3 fish over 50 lbs (years ago) out of local OP rivers. The thing is, we all agreed that the size of the Kings has gone down. I can't remember when the last time I saw someone with a King over over 50. And fish in the mid 30's to 40's seem to be les common. We had our thoughts. What are yours?

This rotund platinum hen one was caught in 2002 on the Kenai.... 50.5 x 32+


This skinnier buck was caught one year later from the very same hole... very good measurements of 53 x 31.75, est 72#


And finally, this buck caught last year.... 52" long and no girth taken, but decidedly chunkier than the buck above.

still can't catch a big king here, usually hit somewhere from 30-40 myself each year in the salt but still can't crack 29lbs, but my biggest came from the elwha cnr'd of course at 35lbs

Saw my first 30lb plus lost on the thorn by my buddy the next morning. Amazing fish and fight. Faught it for 45min adn 100 yards down river before it took one last run, came half out of the water and spit the hook. Never forget that fish. just amazing. He just sat down and wasnt even upset. Said "I am just happy to have that fight once in life".
