In Idaho, you can camp outside of designated campgrounds...pretty much anywhere that isn't actually posted to no camping. How about in Oregon? Does the same apply? If so, are there additional restrictions?

In Idaha, currently there is a complete ban on campfires...what is the status in Oregon?

Thanks to all who respond.

You can do nearly whatever you damn well please on BLM land, as long as you dont log it or burn it down. And the USFS is usually pretty clear about what's what on thier respective websites.

Usually, this time of year, theres a burn-ban on everywhere except for Natl. Parks in designated rings. That's why I do all my camping April-June.

Any particular area you plan on staying?

Leaning toward somewhere around Joseph...perhaps in the Wallowa-Whitman NF. I can live without the fire, but not sure if my wife will want to. Perhaps this being after the holiday, the campgrounds won't be very crowded...if not, I suspect we will be in a campground so she can have her fire.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully the fishing will not disappoint.

Judging by the number of bums camped out in front of the Wal Mart I'd say there aren't any camping rules down here. Come on down, I'm sure there are still spaces available under the overpass.
