Need to change the treble that came on my 1/4 oz. Little Cleo spoons to a single hook. What type and what size is the right one? Will it impact the spoon's action to change them out? Appreciate any help. NCD.

Might change the action a little, but shouldn't be too bad.

I'd start looking at a Siwash in the same hook size or a size smaller 1/0 treble = 1/0 Siwash. Bend the point of the Siwash out about 12 degrees and bend the point down a little.

While Gamakatsu makes a fine hook, I look for a hook with a longer point to bend length. VMC, as a general rule, have a longer point than Gamakatsu. The sickle hooks that I think rvrfshr sells look really good to.

get those sickle siwash from rvrfshr. they rock! use the oval split rings to attach them as well. that guy's the master of the spoon.....

p.s. i'd go with a #1 or maybe a #2 on a 1/4 oz spoon

i'll usually put a #2 gamakatsu, or a #1 or #2 VMC siwash on my 1/4oz offerings.

i too like the VMC hooks, they are easy to sharpen and hold fish well. i hear good things about the matzuo siwash hooks as well, and i'm currently testing them out...

Sheesh Joe, I just ordered a sample from you and now you say your favorite spoon is made by someone else? I guess you don't have to toot your own horn because everyone else toots it for you.

Actually Dave both of my favorite all time lures are, or were made by someone else...
Not to worry though, by next spring the 1/4 oz. bumbler and Stubing dibblers should be making their debut.
