Cabela's is a cool place to visit. They got alot of stuff. But I will stick with Sportsman's Warehouse. I get a good discount and they have more stuff per square foot. Any items that has the Sportsmans Warehouse logo is usually produced by a reputable company. I don't expect anyone on the floor to know much. I know who I can go to if I have a question. If I want to know something about a product, I can research on the web and I can ask here and then purchase. Merry Christmas ALL

About the mail order sales tax. Unfortunately, once they have a physical presence in Washington state, they have to start charging you sales tax on mail order delivered in Washington State.

Like any store it's good for some things but not for others. When they get dialed in they will be staffed by people who know the regional sports gigs and will be knowledgeable, but right now they're probably just feeling their way into the local game.
Their best asset (and greatest weakness) is their size. Their return policies absolutely rock. Usually no questions asked whatsoever. And they'll take stuff back that you bought on line 3 years ago way out of warranty. That's the kind of thing that will make a loyal customer base out of the doubters out there,

...they have more stuff per square foot. Joe WOW! that's a new one. Believe it or not thier initial investment probably cost about half as much per square foot. It's called economy of scale and is passed on to YOU.

no, the stores and mail order cabelas are two separate entities, so they don't have to charge tax.

I plan on checking out the mayhem... Could be good people watching, not to mention good old fashioned fun.
Personally, I like the guys at the fishing shop of Sportsmans W. in lacey, and Auburn sports & marine, and will continue to pour a couple thou into each of those, but I really am looking forward to witnessing what is going to be going on at Cabelas this weekend.
See you guys there. I will be the tall guy pushing a stroller with the two kids taking turns whacking each other and screaming.

i plan on going sometime this winter...doubt i will get there due to my job in december...just leaves me with no time... i am dissapointed that i will now have to pay tax...this is my main visa card company, i may need to find another...i usually order things i cant find at the stores around here...i have Sportsmans in Silverdale, the problem with that store is they never have what i go there for...its not that they dont carry it, its never stocked...they have a huge stocking problem...drives me nuts...we have been going and checking for some jigs for at least 6 months...we had to order em from Cabelas... i would like to pump money into local stores more, there just are not too many over here...and typically they wont have what i want...then i need to order stuff...dont mind paying shipping, just dont like the idea of shipping and Tax.....c

like i said, you still don't have to pay tax! cabelas stores and cabelas mail order are technically two separate companies. there is no cabelas mail order based in this state, so no tax!

Been to the Sydney store and enjoyed our visit. I don't order much fishing stuff from them as I either get through connections or the tidbit stuff locally. I DO like being able to order service spools of line form them ... not a normal item you find on a shelf at most local retailers, and their cost is often more than what Cabela's sell sit for retail. I will say that I am a fan of many of the clothing options that you can get there ... a store might be nice to try some stuff one as I often bounce between XXL and XL depening on the garment and how I want it to fit (outer / inner layer, etc.). I'm sure we'll vsit sometime this winter when we trek to that side of the sound .... but I probably won't come out with much fishing stuff
