Jody, Dave V., Scott, and Dave, and Two Dogs, thanks for doing this together.

Dave -- Your writeup is accurate. Your logic about what happened is impeccable, although there is a little more complexity to the situation than that. For example, the saltwater commercial fishery is targeting a mixture of hatchery and wild runs, with different timings. As I told you, we still need to make improvements in managing that mixture, which I believe we can do.

Dave, I'll send you a short, but longer than this, description of local chum management early next week, which you can post somewhere on PP if you think it's useful.

Thanks very much to Scott, Dave, Jody, and Dave for a great morning on the river. Communication is the name of the game here, and I believe we accomplished a huge amount in that area in a short time. Having a couple decades experience in this arena, it's my strong belief that there are many more issues where the commercial/recreational/tribal fishermen are on the same side than there are issues that divide us. My interest is in eventually bringing the conversation around to those. But, I also want to do what I can to help get out the information about management that several of you asked for.

It is nice to see some cooperation by all, hats off to you all. Now if you can just figure out how to give us a nice steelhead river in kitsap county, i would really tip my hat to you. Thanks in advance. (grin--grin)
