I'm considering getting a fanny pack of sorts for packing gear around for the day. I'm almost always banking it, so effiency is a must. I could care less about a water bottle or lunch as I usually don't eat or drink while fishing. I know there are a variety of things available, so help me narrow down the field, if you would. What do you use?

Get some sort of small chestpack from FishPond. Everything is accessible, it is higher on the body so it won't get wet, and you won't even notice it is on.

The stuff is expensive but seems like it will last forever.

I second the Fish Pond products. I recently purchased the hip/fanny pack and am very comfortable with it. With the right adjustment, I have had no problem with hip or leg pain like I was getting with other less quality packs. Plenty of room for a days worth of various gear for differing methods.

If you can find a fanny pack with shoulder straps, it will help distribute the weight and carry easier.

Soft tackle bag with a shoulder strap? You mean a purse?

I've found the best fishing fanny packs in the hunting section of the store. Much better selection and better prices. I currently have five fanny packs loaded up, each for a different fishery or type of fishing. They range from a small $8 Walmart special just big enough to for a jig box and a few floats, to a big hunting pack with storage all the way around and shoulder straps. I've removed the shoulder straps because I'd have to take the pack off to get into it instead of just spinning it around to the front.

I think I saw that guy as a "greeter" at my local Wal-mart.

One thing I want to know is how the hell you found that picture KD? That must have taken a lot of investigation to find that photo and what were you really looking for?

I'm actually not sure where I found that. I have a collection of weird stuff that people have sent me or I've randomly found. As far as I know, I wasn't searching the "old man in a walmart bag" section of a porn site.

Someone pointed out to me that the face was photoshopped on there, which raises all sorts of questions like, "Who is that?" and "Who got covered up?".

A fairly disgusting photo no matter how you slice it though!
