Went to the Willie Boat factory today to drop of my new T8 kicker, and got the first look at my new 21' Classic. Im like a kid at Christmas, I can't wait.

While you're at this stage of construction, maybe you can have the keel welded end-to-end with hack saw blades and test them out on a few net float lines?

Going to be sweet....what's it to be powered with?

Slab, I am putting a 115 hp (80 jet) on it. The selling point for me was being able to use my old motor. A guide buddy fished out of the same model of boat, and told me he would switch to this one if they made if with an under floor 45 gallon tank. He was totally impressed, I respect his opinion as he is on the water up to 300 days a year. I posted a while ago about ordering this boat, and had some responses about it being flat bottom. Cavitation, handling, and rough ride were brought up. I talked to Willie Boats, and they guarantee it will not cavitate. If it does they will fix the problem, or refund my money. They also put 4 serious strakes, along with 2 chine strakes, on it, and again guarantee it will not slide out in a turn anymore that a V hull. With this kind of assurance, I feel very comfortable with my order. This will be primarily used on the Klamath River, so big wind chop is not really a concern for me.

Doc, I looked up the boat you talked about, WOW what a set up. I have cutomized this boat to my liking. After fishing for 10 years out of my old boat, I knew what worked for me, and what I wanted.

I went with the 26" sides as we boondog mostly on the Klamath. I started sidedrifting last year. The lower sides will not catch the wind as much as higher ones, and extend my fishing time a little. Also less time is spent battling the wind.

I went with the diamond plate floor becuase I use Pro Glow cure, and it is a pain to get off floor. I also had the interior clear coated for the same reason.

I upgraded to a 25 gallon tank.

I ordered to two movable seat boxes, and two -four legged pedestal seats. I will usually have two people fishing with me. If I have more I will just add the pedestal seat for them.

I got the fish box wash down to keep the fish cool. It is up to 80 degrees up river.

I went with a rigging box instead of a transom storage area. I pull plugs, and anchor fish alot and like the open transom.

I bought a new Yamaha T8 kicker. I liked the electric start, and power trim.

I also added the diamond plate cowling along the gunnel. This was not really a functional reason, I just liked the way it looked.

I also upgraded to a Baker trailer.

My old boat had very little storage area. This boat has a large closed storage area in the bow, and storage under the seats.

I am not a gadget guy and I like simple usefull stuff. I kept this boat as simple as I could. I plan on having this boat for a very long time.

Thanks for the posts guys, I am pretty excited. I recently went through the big D (divorce) and I am finally back on my feet. It was a pretty crappy time in my life. So this is a little pick me up, and a Christmas present to myself. Hope we dont get too much rain by January, so I can chase Winter run steelhead on the Klamath River.

When I have a covered place to park it. I currently own three boats. I'm not willing to deal with another until I have a huge garage. Bummer too, because I just happen to have $16,000 in savings, and Kevin Lund has a buddy who is unloading a Willie just like his for $16,000.

There is allot to having it custom built your own way.
I had mine buit in 1984 up in Burlington, buit it my way and have never changed a thing. Still is set up exactly the same and still fishing the same 90hp Merc inline 6. Great machine.

That guy has specific set up he needed all that storage for. I dont need all those storage areas. I'm sure it added some wieght to the boat, but it was what he needed. I am thinking about interior deck lights, but have not decided yet.

WOW,
I am kind of suprised they are not building those boats in Jigs, most boat builders build them in jigs to keep them to the same specs everytime.

Peace
