With the camera powered on and connected, the card(drive) should be an option under My Computer. Is it an option there?

There may be a way to "rename" the usb port as a "drive"...
Good Luck, ...a new computer may be in order that has a card reader.

PULEEEEZEE!!!
<fingers have taken over now>
Get a Mac.
<fingers let go of control now>
Damn! Sorry. Stupid fingers.
PS. Open up the Camera and Scanner Wizard in XP. If that can't open up your camera and mount it on your computer, you are probably hosed.

If you haven't taken any more pictures and overwritten the deleted file a place like costco/kits can recover it for you.
I realize that this is not what you are looking for but, I have personally had costco recover some pictures that I had deleted off my chip.

SD card readers are cheap. LinkThat will identify as a removable drive in XP. You can then try your software...
