So checking up on my Truck Camper this morning, I replaced the Dry-z-air dehumidifier and gave it a look see, I noticed a couple tiny spots of mildew cropping up. I thought I was pretty thorough in storing it by draining all the water, propping open the fridge, covering it with a tarp, and putting one of those Chemical thingys in there, but Im still getting this mold.
Now I plugged in a small space heater set on low hoping that the warm air circulating will defeat any seeping moisture or humidity.

Am I on the right track here or is there something I'm missing?

Have you left a window and upper vent cracked just a little to allow for some circulation? The tarp might behold in more moisture than Dri-z-air can handle. Might need a second Dry-z-air, although the heater might help.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Go to Camper World or online and get a couple Goldenrod dehumidifiers.

They cause a warm convection current......not hot enough to catch anything on fire, but safer than a lightbulb and waaaay more effective than Dri-z-Air. We sell the 24" model to dehumidify aircraft stored over the winter in a musty, fusty hangar and they work very well at preventing mold/mildew and corrosion in the avionics.

It will probably require 2 of the three footers to keep your camper dry.

I just read about a very inexpensive proven way to keep your campers free from moisture.

Take a bag of Kingsford (or whichever brand) Charcoal Briquettes and leave the bad open in the middle of the camper !

You can't leave an RV unheated in the winter in the NW. I plug in a little electric space heater and leave it on low all winter long. Keeps the temp at about 60 degrees and it keeps it dry and free of mold. \:\)

this works good:

24" piece of black stove pipe 6 or 8inch.....make cuts on one end so that you can flare it out.

12" square piece of plywood with a 1/2" hole drilled in the center.

Mount one of those porcelain light fixtures in the middle of the plywood routing the cord through the hole.

fasten the "chimney" over the fixture to the plywood.

Use a 60 or 75w light bulb.

I use this on my boat at the marina. I have two of them on board and they work beautifully. If a little more heat is needed I sometimes put a clay planter pot on top of the pipe.

Covering your stuff with plastic is probably the worst ting you can do as far as the mildew.

At the very least put a small fan in there, but a heater would be better. I've got a small space heater in my camper and run it all winter. Never had an issue with any mildew.

Just an FYI. Saw this in the PS Business Journal the other day.
Might be an option for those who want to store their boats or RV's inside but don't have a dry or heated space. Big facility, with 250,000 feet indoor plus outdoor storeage with round the clock tweeker security.

If I remember correctly, it is $9.00 per foot length. So you're looking at $180.00 per month to store a 20 foot boat.

They just open up one of these in Everett also.

Thanks. I have a Space Heater in there now and Im going to go look into that Golden Rod. Im also going to start looking around for secure indoor storage. I paid too much for that thing to let it rot away.

In my camper, I do as Sol does, a small ceramic heate/fan turned low. In my boat which is under cover but not in a garage, I use two of those heater box convection things with the holes in them. One goes in the cabin and one in the bulkhead with the curtains closed, otherwise its mold city!
