Although I heartily disagree with most of Todd's opinions, as do others on this website, I have been motivated to do one thing. I have pledged to learn more about our resource that is steelhead. I have pledged to attend the meetings and committees that affect our fish and fisheries. Even if it means having to take a day off of fishing. If there is one bit of good that can come from conversations like this, it is that one more person decides that instead of trying to convince Todd that harvest is an issue, we focus on giving our time and energy to learn more, attend a meeting, or be a steward of the habitat. I think that if we all gave a little bit more, it would go a long ways. Sounds sappy, I know. So the next time you are tearing your hair out about the experts on this site, decide to become one yourself. I hope to find there actually IS more than one right opinion.
See you in Olympia?

It does not matter how pristine the field, if the crop can not be planted then the farmer will go hungry!

Jason, you should get your money back. You'll need it for the math course, for your new line of work, after all the gillnets are gone. You might get dizzy watching that fish wheel spinning around. Plus you would have to identify an unclipped washington fish, from a naitve or wild fish. To my knowledge Canada doesnt clip. Does Alaska clip? Does Oregon clip? Ever heard of DNA? Thats how they know. Believe this, the nets, your nets are going away.

Dude I am not a commercial Fisherman.

I realize the math works (Yes ALASKA caught 212 million salmon fish), what I didn't realize is the CCA is trying to talk on commercial fishing.

I am against Gillnetting.

And the bycatch rate of the Pollock trawl fleet is alarming, skyrocketing and you guys don't seem to catch that.

The gillnets in the River, they bother me. Those fish have seen it all and to have a guantlet of nets in the river is completly FU(KED.

But the CCA can't change the treaty. So they are gonna just piss off the commercial fleet.
