With all the low & clear I made up some fluro leaders. I went with the P-line cuz I had a sample around the house.

10 lb. line to a size #2 Owner, got a couple Q for you users....

Clinch Knot ok??

I fish alot of Ultragreen leaders, can I pull the same on this stuff??

I use both. Ultragreen for Steelhead, and P-line for Salmon. I would use P-line for Steelheading as well, it's just that I cut my steelhead teeth on Maxima and will only use Maxima now for Steelheading, as it is Old school and I'm hooked in a time warp. Ultragreen handles way better than the old Camelon did back then, but that was before Ultragreen or P-line was around and it was the sh!t.

Cinch Knot is cool. I always use the improved Cinch Knot when ever possible. It's a much stronger knot. F.Y.I., P-line is very strong, and will probably out perform the Ultragreen for line strength.

Recently Vhawk did tests on various lines, and P-line was up at the top. I also posted the results from the testing that Sports Fishing ( a magazine) did on all the major brands, in side by side testing, and P-line rated near the top in their tests as well. They tested in all categories( knot strength, abrasion resistance, line strength, cast-ability.

Hookum, are you talking about the P-line CFX fluorocarbon line or one of the others like P-line CXX in clear??

I tied some 8# side drift rigs with the P-line CX flourocarbon coated line & lost a couple of nice fish when the leader broke (I think on the fishes teeth). The UG 8# is thicker dia .011 to the Pline's .0095. Maybe the 10# would work better for you. I do like the Pline 12# CXX for mainline though. The straight cinch knot sometimes slipped for me & had to use the improved cinch.

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the CXX moss green. I used the CFX Flouroclear for Salmon, but had to sacrifice some line strength and abrasion resistance with it. Tried it when it first came out, but decided that I would stick to the CXX line when fishing for Salmon.

for improved clinch knot, I make eight "wraps" before passing line through the loop(s) and have had no slips. I am using the clear CFX Flourocarbon in 12# & 15# for leaders down here (NorCal) - lotsa brush to keep the fish out of!

Chrome/22-

does lighter pound test matter for flourocarbon - I thought it is supposed to be "invisible" in water (which is why I'm using it), so why not go heavier?

Thanks, Mike

Mike, I just think 8 lb. Maxima ultragreen line matches well with size # 2 hooks, so I did bump up 1 size with the CFX to 10 lb.

Also made up some bigger bait rigs today, using # 1 hooks with 12 lb. CFX

CFX is pretty bullet proof in my book. I think it's as good as Seaguar.
Great stuff as far as I'm concerned.
