I have 3 I use currently...

#1 Rainshadow RX-7 1082s... This one is my lightweight small water spinning rod. Fish this one with a hand-sliding dink 3/4 X 4" float & PP 30/8 on a 2500 size reel. Most of the time under the PP its got 8-10 lb. Ultragreen to a 1/8 to a 1/4 oz. jig on it.

#2 Lamiglas X96 JC... Bigger water, again its PP 30/8 on a Curado 200. I like a slip float on this one, use some bigger jigs & alot of bait. I like to slip a small colored matched "Deadfish" weight on the 10-15 lb. Ultragreen leader to sit on top of the bait & that 1/0 Owner.

#3 Rainshadow RX-8 1264c... This is the spanking new one. Just had Don spin it up for me, I'm pretty sure I will fish a Curado 300 with PP 30/8 to a slip float on this one too, I'm thinking SPRINGERS + BAIT = BBQ...Its my first 10.5' rod, so if anyone fishes these long sticks feel free to advise away....

Not sure about float fishing it but your rainshadow 1082 makes a great sidedrift rod. Finally got the 1 back that my "Boat ate". I'll 2nd the 1263c for a great float rod.

Randy, that's good news on your kicker-chewed Rainshadow. I use that 1082s alot, I really like it as a small water float rod. The 20-22 lb. king I hooked on it last November was a bit much though....

Jake, do you put mono under your PP as a filler or just spool on ton's of the PowerPro...?

Lamiglas XSH 126 2MH with a Curado 201 old style, or a Lamiglas XSH 126 2ML with Okuma MDS-30 both made by DP Custom Rods.

I have some STR1262's and some XST1264's. They are both great rods.

Wrap of tape on the spool, 20 or 30 yards of mono on the tape and PP on top of that...Later

Jake

What's the benefit of putting tape on the spool prior to spooling?

I'm a big fan of longer rods for float fishing, but some of my favorites are the Raven IM9 13'6", rain shadow blank IST1562F, Loomis 1562S, and the Sage 3113.

Yup, me too. The Lami X113 MCP is a deadly rod. Definatly my new favourite. Her first trip to the river she went 3 for 3 with some pretty wild does to the beach.

I have been loving my new 13'6 batson 8wt spey tied into a float rod. I have put it to the test over the past couple of weeks and it has a great bend with some serious power. Yesterday I fished braid on it with a 10lb leader and just held fish in their tracks.LOL It handles the lighter leads well too, I have not gone below 6lb with it but would imagine you could get away with some 5 if you really needed too. For midsized to smaller water I am liking the Raven 14' IM8 rod and the 13'6 raven IM9.

Lamiglas, X13 LS, 3 piece.....6 -10, worked very well last summer. Use a Shimano Stradic 2500 with 20# Stren Hi Vis. and 6, 8, or 10 pound leaders.
