And frankly, after 14 months of meeting and discussing these issues, your comments about the Boldt decision are the first time I have heard reference to the judge's decision by a CCA member. I would be amazed if the majority of CCA members could even describe the Boldt decision, much less argue about it as a CCA objective.
So let's keep talking facts, and not hyperbole.
Thumper, Todd is correct that there have been a number of threads of differant forums with headlines like " Join CCA and end tribal fishing" It seems pretty bad to me for CCA to use tactics like that to get people to sign up. I think it's rediculous to characterize or blame the CCA for one Tool's post on that website Duroboat. You know as well as I do that this person had no standing in the CCA and was in no position to make that claim. Petty.

Sky-Guy just so you know it happened more than once and by different people. I have seen it on more than 1 site on at least 3 different occasions.

"I'm certainly NOT disagreeing with you on the substance. Just on how to deal with it politically."
I don't deal with it politically i deal with it matter of factly and that is too much for some people... we are decades behind where we should be because of politics. Either we want to save the fish or we don't currently our actions indicate that we don't and I do not believe that commercial harvest is the first thing we need to get after..
for instance this year ALL of the commercial spring chinook fishery in the columbia occurred ABOVE I-5.. yet thte Kalama had it's worst wild winter steelhead run in recorded history.. commercial nets in the Columbia are not even close to being the whole problem.. eliminating this commercial fishery will NOT restore the salmon runs and judging by the people i talk to on a regular basis they are led to believe that it will. all i do is cut through the BS and throw it away politics is trying to weave your way around the truth..
the truth is offensive to those heavily invested in lies..
as to my tact... it is often said that you catch more flies with honey than vinagar well 25 years of honey has accomplished nothing....
if anyone is offended by my words it is because you are heavily invested in a lie.

Please remember that when people on PP or any other bulletin board post about CCA, you are dealing with about 2% of the membership of the organization. You cannot take the input of 2% of CCA and ascribe those comments to the organization as a whole. Those who do that are either ignorant or have other agendas.

Any group that makes a decision that hatchery fish should never be raised/planted is NOT going to be taken seriously by the managers.
Marsha, isn't this exactly what TPU, WDFW, AR and TU did with the Cowlitz Summer fishery? Seems that new FERC license on the cowlitz was taken pretty seriously by their managers.

Is anyone else stunned by the tone of this discussion??
I can 100 percent understand the doubt...
I can't understand how aggressively some are trying to undermine the efforts though .... Its obvious the first priority of the cca is to build a large membership and to raise funds.... You may not agree with that priority, but how can you undermine six thousand sportfishermen trying something constructive and getting involved--even if youd do it differently if you were in charge.... I'd expect cautionary tales and patronizing pats on the back, but not such hostility....
I started a business ten years ago with no biz training, in a market I had no real experience in, with a plan that was both laughably naive and just dumb in places... But we succeeded, and while we had doubters (including ourselves) people in general were supportive and encouraging....
Maybe the CCA is naive... Maybe they're going to make mistakes and even fail... But don't they at least deserve your support in spirit, even if you don't want to sign on?
I can see commercial fishing interests drinking the hatorade, but why sporties?
And with six thousand members they should have 20-30 times more knuckleheads than the WSC, just statistically based on larger membership... I'd. Guess that's why you're much more likely to bump into an ill informed CCA member.

It's not "hate" or anything remotely like it...
Brian, no matter how folks like to mischaracterize what I say...on purpose, I believe...the fact of the matter is that I don't think " a good idea cares who has it", and I subscribe to that, too.
I don't think that starting out with a made up story to get membership, and swiftly moving on to banquets, while aggressively attacking anyone who questions what exactly the CCA stands for, what it's trying to do, what it's goals are...etc., etc., etc.,...is a good idea.
The CCA has a reputation nationally for "not playing well with others", and before it's even started here, it's living up to that reputation, and in spades.
There is an absolute ton of knowledge and experience in Washington for these issues that are important, yet the CCA thinks it can go it alone...
"If you haven't paid your $25 to the CCA, you're part of the problem"
...and if I had a ten spot for every time I've heard that particular piece of total bull$hit, then I'd be a very wealthy man.
If that's the way they want to be, then I say screw'em...they've got 4,000 members with an average of less than a year's experience working in one of the most complex and frustrating arenas in the world...yet they continually alienate the very folks who might be able to help.
Fish on...
Todd

Todd, We have a serious problem that we will never see eye to eye on.
You graduated from Western
I graduated from Central
You played shortstop for Western
I played third for Central
Lets just agree to disagree on this whole CCA thing and hope we meet at the finish line with our goals reached.
Otherwise this could get personal......lol

Your right 100% Todd it has nothing to do with HATE. I wonder how many CCA members here ever even heard of CCA before Loomis started talking about them. I know I have known of them for many years. I also wonder how many of the 4000 members have talked to other fisherman and CCA members from the states where CCA has been active for years. I have and found it informative.

Very interesting thread. However, with 118 replys, it would be difficult for anyone "new" to join in and know the background of all the posts.
I thank you for keeping it cival, for the most part.
I am going to shut this one down.
Please feel free to continue this discussion on a new thread.
