Hey there, a friend recently down graded his 27 foot Wellcraft to a 24 footer and ended up parting with all his old gear in the process. He has asked me to help him pick out all new gear for the brand new boat. I have already got the Downrigger/mooching rods picked out but he loves to fish Darts and other metal jigs from 2 to 8 ounces. Any suggestions as for a great jigging rod? Thanks -TBJ

man, that's a lot of money for a jigging stick.

lamiglas puget jigger comes to mind, shimano makes a good one too(convergence).

I like the puget jigger for heavy jigs, but I use a 9' griggs for my lighter jigs , up to about 4 0z.

I own 2 of the 4 BBR Loomis rods. I really like the lighter of the two (the 7.5 footer). It is fairly similar to the Puget Jigger (which I also really like) although I find the Lami to be a touch slower.

These would be ideal for up to about 4 ounces. Once you get up to 6 or 8, you are starting to push it.

I think the BBR rods may be the way to go. I really dont see him using more than 6 ounces and usually will be using 2-4. The Loomis's are affordable too. Thanks for the input.-Tom

I use these in sitka and they fish really well with darts up to 3-1/4 oz for deep water kings and lighter jigs for coho.. Have used others and this rod really seems to match that style of fishing. I have found that with some shorter heavier rods that it can be a little more difficult to feel the bites when the jig is fluttering when your dropping the rod. Added bonus is that this rod can double as a light coho mooching rod.
