Curado's are great but finicky, the 2500c, you can loosen up all the way and let er fly with only a little thumb action. 2500's are pretty hard to beat for casting light weights. Curado's work great, but when you get down to really light weights, you have to baby them where the 2500's just keep on working no matter what you do to them.

Curados don't work worth a crap when they get wet, either...you can stick an Amassadeur in the sand, then stick it in the river and give it a shake, and be back in business.

hey todd, i'm pretty sure there's no high tech "record" guts in those 15s and 25s, just the same old stuff that made them work so damned good in the first place.

i've got 2 2500c's for summer run fishing -- they will flat out outcast any other reel out there, period. the ONLY drawbacks to them are their line capacity(150yd of 8lb or so, enough for summer runs for me) and rather slow retrieve. they will cast 1/8oz far enough to be impractical, i would rather have one in my hands than any other reel. i believe the record distance is something like 150yd with 5/8oz of lead!

they are rather different inside than other ABUs -- the design looks like something shimano or daiwa would have used, except about 25 years earlier. they were "super free" before shimano coined the word. larger bearings(5x11x4 rather than 3x4x10 like the 5500 series, or shimanos for that matter), with a completely free-floating pinion and spool.

that 5500D looks killer, but 500 bones is a little steep for me. if you know where to look, you can still convert an old 5500C to a 5500D for around 30 bucks with new parts(i've got 2 in the works...)

You're right that not all of them have the guts of the new Records...and it would only be in the larger 5000, 5500, 6000, and 6500 sizes that they have them...and being in Japanese, the only way I could see which is which is by looking at the pics of every single one, and some of them say "Record" on the sideplate, and the internal pics show the Record spool configuration.

Yeah, that 5500D looks killer...but will have to come down about $350 before I'll be buying it!

Fish on...

If you had "man hands" then you wouldn't get all injured up from having to fish with a round reel.

P.S. Revo Toro will be killer...multi-reel purchase forthcoming.
