There is a review online at Steelhead University, although not allot of detail:
http://steelheaduniversity.com/GLoomis_Steelhead_Series_part1.htmlI bought the 1045c last winter and fished it plenty on medium-large rivers like the Skykomish and medium small rivers like the EF Lewis. Pretty good for casting and preventing fatigue after a full day on the stream, in my opinion. I fish mostly from the bank and I am always on the move- nice, light rod, easy to use. My previous was a Lamiglas CP, so it is tough for me to compare to other Loomis models, but I can say that I much prefer the "feel" of a Loomis. Tough to find anything comparable.
I would be curious to hear opinions on whether the extra 2" is for added feel (which is a trademark of Loomis) or for better back-bone when fighting. It is a very good rod for bringing them in, but I have lost a few on sloppy hook-sets and popping the hook.... I am sure it is my problem, not the rod's!
I do allot of spinner fishing, especially in the summers and have a GL3 STR1024S which is limper on the tip than the 1045c- which makes for an easier cast, but often over-casting (it is almost too easy to cast a size 2 or 3 spinner for smaller water). Again, I had an older Lamiglas CP spinning rod before which was way too stiff compared to teh Loomis. Half-tempted to try a steelhead series spinning rod, but not sure about spending the $$$!
