When I clicked on the link Big Daddy provided it took me to an iFISH registration page. Is there any way to see this letter without having to register?

And, thanks for letting us know about this BD.

I do not know why Rossi is anymore in the Commercial't pocket mre than Chrissy is, because a great many WEA members work on fishing boats during the Summer, and the Democrat Party is wholly subsiderary of the WEA.

I was sort of on the Rossi/Gregoire fence, but for me this pushes it over the top for Gregoire...

I find the anti-Gregoire advertising on the radio, entirely funded by the home builders associations, to be super annoying. When people who want to develop huge tracts of land for housing run advertising complaining about traffic congestion (a demonstrable side effect of urban sprawl), that's when you know you're dealing with the wrong guys.

I was on the fence too, but with Gregoir actively trying to help our fish and Rossi saying he's not sure global warming is for real, I gotta vote Gregoir.

Dave somehow I can't picture you voting for a Republican...But then again I supported Gregoire so I suppose anything is possible.

I think many folks think I hate republicans because I have been so unhappy with Bush. ( I have been very unhappy with his environmental record. Who wouldn't be? )

The fact is, I have supported for a number of republicans including Nixon, the first time GHW Bush and Dave Reichert.

I liked the old time Ronald regan republican values of smaller government, balanced budget and fiscal restraint. But the current Rs seem to have totally abandoned that.

I would vote for McCain if he weren't so damn old. I do admire him, and am torn betweeen Obama's inexperience and McCain's old age.

BTW if you can remember back far enough I often gave Clinton hell in my columns.

I voted for Ronald both times, GHW Bush both times, and never voted for Clinton or GW Bush. This time around, this Independent is for Obama! cool

The Ant & The Grasshopper

OLD VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NEW VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well-fed while others are cold and starving.
CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast.
How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'
Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's home where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.
Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.
Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Ant~Pro-Grasshopper Act, retroactive to the beginning of the summer.
The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.
Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients.
The ant loses the case.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he has failed to maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug-related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2008!!
Phoenix,
Those jokes are great contributions to this thread...thanks.
Like I said above, there are a multitude of issues that someone should consider when they are looking at who to vote for, and if on the balance of things you prefer Rossi, then by all means exercise your right to vote by punching your ticket for him...but do not fool yourself into thinking that you are doing anything but harm for your fish and fisheries when you do...you might be getting a lot of other things you like with Rossi, but better fishing, protection of our fish, and protection of their habitat will absolutely deteriorate whenever he has a role to play in it...the most obvious spot being his appointments to the commission.
Fish on...
Todd
Todd, My Fella,
Do I feel a snide remark from you anent my "jokes"? Politics to me is no joking matter. It is sometimes truths "medicine" easier to take with a spoon full of sugar.
If the happy birthday is for me, how the Heck did you know?
P. S: WEA being in the pocket (or vive-a-versa) Democrat Party in this
state is no jpoking matter.
There's a birthday cake next to your name...signifying that it is your birthday, assuming the bday you put in your profile is the actual date...
So happy birthday!
I don't find politics to be a laughing matter, either...and Dino having the BIAW as his closest allies spells nothing but bad things for fish and fishing, and joining up with the commercial fishers, especially if he intends to put one on the DFW Commission, would be even more disastrous.
Fish on...
I am just back from a trip to North Dakota and Montana. I spent a couple of nights at thr T.R. National Monument. I had forgotten how great a conservationist T.R. was. When you consider he also took on the oligoplies, he really was a great president. The desire to protect the nations resources and the consumer has somehow escape the current batch of those who carry his parties label.
I'm intriqued by the Ms. G. bashes Dino ads. It seems every one that I've seen can be simply translated to, "Dino doesn't vote for taxes." I'm finding that rather attractive myself.
Obama is a no show for me......let him come back when he figures out who the Hell he is. The guy is a non-entity.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I know that the guy with only 143 days experience
is the most qualified for the job.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe the government will do a better job
of spending the money I earn than I would.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe white people need to spend their time
at the back of the bus.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe three or four pointy headed elitist liberals
need to rewrite the Constitution every few days
to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER
get their agendas past the voters.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe that paying $4.00 a gallon or more
is no reason to drill for the mountain of oil
we are sitting on in THIS country.
We wouldn't want to have to move a couple
of polar bears now would we?
I'm voting Democrat because…
when we pull out of Iraq, I trust that the bad
guys will stop what they're doing because
they now think we're good people.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I like it when planes fly into buildings full of
civilians. I want to see more of that.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I don't want a stimulus check to spend.
Let the government spend it for me.
I'm voting Democrat because…
Freedom of speech is fine as long as
nobody is offended by it.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I love the fact that I can now marry whatever
I want. I'm going to marry my TV.
I'm voting Democrat because…
It's important that we keep all
death row inmates alive.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I don't want to eat poison food and drink
dirty water. We all know Republicans love
that stuff. Ever wonder why the most left
wing country in the World (China) is the
most polluted?
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe that when the terrorists don't have
to hide from us over there and as a result come
over here I don't want to have any guns in
the house to fight them off with.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe that churches should only be
allowed for political speeches.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe that business should not be allowed
to make profits for themselves. They need to
break even and give the rest away to the employees.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe that I don't want Doctors who were
at the top of their classes to operate on me.
I want a government employee who makes
$50k a year and couldn't hack it as a contractor
or an engineer to do it.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I believe that people who can't tell us if it will
rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps
will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving
a Prius.
I'm voting Democrat because…
I REALLY believe there is no bias in the media
