Todd, just came aware of your sickle siwash last week and ordered a couple packs. Put them to the test Friday and since then I am 8 for 8 on kings (cnr now that it is closed). I am fishing the 2/0 behind a coho killer, I am amazed how much better the fish hold vs. a traditional siwash. I only wish I would have known about them earlier.

I can't wait to try your suggested rig with a buzz bomb. I finally found a group of silvers this morning off Whidbey but was using a Gami siwash and lost my usual share.

Awesome product! Thanks!

Ok, Having just left the thread about too much stuff, marketing, etc., how does one get these new hooks? In stores, website, what brand? Every year I seem to go through a couple of weeks in the time between the fall off in king fishing and start of the full on coho fishing where probably 3 out of 5 takedowns last maybe one run and then the fish is gone. Maybe these would help?

Thanks, Neal...that's our website, Mr.Bill...if you order them up we can have them to you within a day or two, but you can go pick them up off the shelf at the Federal Way Sportsman's Warehouse, which is probably only ten minutes from your house.

Go to the fishing tackle counter and ask them where the Rvrfshr stuff is...we've got all kinds of goodies there.

Fish on...

tmr360, thanks for the support.

Guys using downriggers and spoons have especially noticed a big upswing in hits to hookups, and hookups to lands. Generally speaking, if they have to pull hard enough to pop the clip, then that sickle hook will be in their chops too far for them to shake it, even with the momentary slack line after the clip lets go.

Since that's when most fish are missed or lost while downrigger fishing, a different hook might be the difference between a four or five bites and one fish to hand and four or five bites with a limit in the box.

elkrun made a post on here a few weeks ago about using the sickles in the salt...good information in there for the saltwater trollers.

I've just added a new post on that thread, too, about some upcoming changes to our hook lineup smile

Boom and rod tip bouncing, manually pull line out of release clip,....fish off. frown I found a solution to that this weekend after losing several hatchery steelhead down on the Columbia that couldn't pull the line out of the down rigger clip on their own. Winch 'em to the top with the downrigger and then reach over and unclip the line by hand keeping a tight line to the fish.

Not sure how legal that is, but it works.

I believe if you are handicapped it is not a problem. Now it's up to you to come up with a plausible excuse if you are checked.

Thanks to Neal and Todd for the info. Will check it out next time I am in there. Probably be soon. Between fishing and hunting stuff this is a dangerous time of year.

If you can't set a hook hard enough to trip the release, and reel fast enough to come tight on a fish on the DR.... Well then, you might be handicapped. smile

I went into Sportsman's Warehouse at Hawk's Prairie in Lacey today and I asked that since the Federal Way store had rvrfshr products why they didn't have them. I was told to walk over one aisle and help myself. There's a good display there, but I didn't see any pink worms. Lots of sickle siwashes and spinners and spinner making items.

ronnie...they haven't picked up our worms at that store yet...they have a full selection at the FW store. Feel free to tell the guys at the Lacey store that you'd like to see our worms there smile

Went by the FW store this past weekend and picked up some of the sickle siwash hooks in 1/0 and 3/0 but they were out of the 2/0. 2/0 should be just right on spoons. Might try the 3/0 on spoons until I get some 2/0. Missed the rvrfshr display in the Lacey store when I stopped in on my way back from Olympia today so now have an excuse to go back and try to score some 2/0 hooks.

I will check with Doug Field, the manufacturer of the Buzz Bomb and even better Zzinger.(He's an old friend and a good guy.) I know he used to use only Eagle Claw hooks, and beleive he had the offset eye hooks made to his specifications. Dunno if he has more or will sell themn. I will report back.
