About 1/3 or 100 miles has not been improved as yet. They have made other improvements to the canals, like the pumps and gates. The pumps are capable of transferring 16,000 feet of water per second, which is more than the cowlitz on a flood.
There are less than 10k people reported in New Orleans as opposed to 70,000 in Katrina. New rules. Looters go straight to general population at the state prison. If youre on the street, you get arrested. No help until tomorrow and not putting first responders at risk. 85% of the cops are staying behind. National Guard 5000.
gov jindal spent a lot of time on TV press conference updating people. Fema is on duty and they even worked with the oil companies to refuel station for more than a million people being evacuated. Mississippi turned the south bound lanes into north bound to get people north faster. They have satelite tags on family members to find them.
Much has improved, and the RNC has done the right thing with the convention.
Oh, Michael Moore and Don Fowler, former DNC Chairman, found God. They are quite pleased that "God is on the Democrats side" by disrupting the convention. Similar level of humor to Al Gore (extra Y chromosome) and John Kerry, (uneducated people get sent to Iraq). classy.

If Nagin had done this right last time, we might have been running against Nagin, instead of the empty suit. In fairness, theyve had storms long before statehood, they just took the storms for granted like a lot of other politicians and lack of vision open the country up for disaster, natural or criminal. Everyone should remember, the French built that city, below sea level. Im also glad that local and national race baiters wont have any ground to stand on.

Whatever happens, it will be Bush's fault.... funny I don't see him getting credit for the precautions being taken. Who can we blame the expensive evacuation on if nothing happens ?

I can't believe it, but my oldest grandchild has totally lost it. Not only did she decide to marry an internet honey from Louisiana, they are going to ride it out in a boat in the bayou. My wife just showed me the e-mail from my daughter-in-law. WTF???
UN freaking believable!!!
