Rod breakage? I don't get it? How do you break a rod? I've had cheap rods, expensive rods(G Loomis to me is)and never broke one with a fish on??? I've stepped on them in the boat, shut the trk door on a few, fell when wading a river and broke them. Do people still used the drag on their reels? Or just try and horse the fish in and break the rod? I've seen people drag a Chum 20' up the bank with their cheap rod bent double and it didn't break. Please explain how you break a rod, I really would really like to know.

The higher modulus rods are also more sensitive to damage and that damage reveals itself in that ear shattering gun sound....only broke on rod, a gl3 1143c that boomed on me while I inadvertently highsticked while trying to pull a steelie up onto the bank...$50 later and I had a new rod....love that expiditor service.

FW - Here's how you break a rod:
You step on it in the boat. You shut the truck door on it. You fall on it while wading.
What's great about Lamiglass is that even when I've done these things to my Lamiglass rod, and I have, they replace it with a new one. No questions asked.
No other rod manufacturer that I know of will do this. Most will replace the rod if you break it while fighting a fish. But Lamiglass goes much farther. I can't say enough about them.

I'm sure it's an issue he feels very passionate about. Enough so to make him register and make a post.
And I agree with him. [/b]i'm not sure about the "overhyped garbage" thing. you don't see nearly as many guys decked out in lamiglas apparrel with stickers on their $50k trucks like you do with loomis guys. and most of the time it's the loomis guy bashing lamiglas. guess they have to make themselves feel better for paying twice as much for their setup as the guy that just outfished them i don't have any harsh feelings toward loomis rods, they are nice, but i can't justify paying that extra $100-200 for a rod that won't serve me any differently. hell, the rods used to be nearly the same, gary worked for lamiglas once upon a time. really wish lamiglas would bring back the cork body reel seats that they once used, the kind that loomis IMX rods still have...

Dave,
Quick question. I have a Lamiglass, not sure which modle, that was in a series of rods that had defective aluminum oxide guides. This was confirmed by Lamiglass. I had payed to have them replace a couple of guides (Shipping), but they are wearing again. This is a nice rod and I don't want to throw it away or pay someone to put guides on it that are not defective. However, I don't like loosing fish because my line frays. Do you think that they would be willing to swap out for an older model with porcelain guides?
