simms classic, G3 or G4 if you dont want to have to ever worry about staying dry on the water.

I'll vouch for the Simms Guide classic. I have one of the first ones and it has held up well. They improved on it early on by using a bigger zipper. I have the smaller zipper on my jacket and it is a pain to zip, especially if your hands are cold and wet. I would recommend, from what has been recommended so far from Simms, Patagonia, Columbia, and others, that you make sure you get a jacket that has a large zipper, and nice big zipper pull.

I have the Patagonia Deep Wading jacket and like everything about it, including the shorter length - except that it only has 2 large, velcro closed, chest (non-draining) pockets. I often wade fairly deep and so my vest (if I wear one) is inside my waders, limiting easily accessed storage to those two pockets and the single pocket inside my Simms waders. The Simms jackets have several pockets and they vary in size. If I were to buy again, I'd go for the Simms. I believe Patagonia recommends against getting deet on the jacket too. Since I fish only colder months with the jacket, this hasn't been an issue - but if you plan to use, say in Alaska during bug-months, this would also be a negative.

Patagonia SST or Simms Rivershed, though the Rivertek at Ted's is a great deal.

Look for jackets with rubber or synthetic cuffs as opposed to neoprene. Neo is a water soaker, that eventually turns into an armpit soaker.

Good $pending.

I have a 6 or 7 year old Patagonia SST. It's still awesome (bombproof), as is their customer service. I took a 4-year-old pair of SST waders into their Portland store last year b/c it finally developed a leak in the foot. They gave me a new pair of their latest, no receipt, no questions.
You cannot get their combination of quality fishing gear and customer service anywhere else. I think the SST jacket has another 6 or 7 years in it easy.
