That "welcoming video" brings back good memories...not the least of which is that during the paintball barrage when we got ambushed we all stood there and kept loading the potato gun, while Jason crawled on the floor and crouched behind a seat.

None of us got hit, not even by a ricochet...but Jason hiding on the floor had about two inches of his back exposed, and was hit at least three times.

Good times.

I don't think Vedder minded being caught on fire as much as the fact that it was his favorite fleece shirt that managed to get hit by a bottle rocket.

Note to participants: don't wear fleece.

Bottle rockets hit fleece, and then melt right onto it while continuing to throw sparks all over the place...and if it's the right kind of bottle rocket, it then blows up on your chest.

Ask Vedder...he'll tell you the same thing.

Fish on...

Todd

Parker, we've been talking notes alright. Lurking, learning, and trying to glean tidbits of information that will help us escape the newbie tag and fresh meat labels without too much embarrassment. We have got a few ideas up our collective sleeves, but extensive testing needs to be done prior to unveiling. A few old tricks, perhaps a few new ones.

Rest assured, we will have something for ya. The biggest thing I am wondering about for now is how those TH custom rods fish compared to the standard cartoon models. I guess we will have to wait a few weeks to find out!

Look for a team intro post before too long. Looking forward to the shenanigans.

I wouldn't know. 5 brats entered in the SRC and I've yet to win it.

Actually, all the rods are fine. It's the reels that are the question marks.

I'll start the team intro post:

Team Piscatorial Pursuits is:

Bob
Sparkey
Parker

You can do a better intro than that Parker. How about some photos and stats.

For example.

Team Profile: Piscatorial Pursuits?

Team Member: Michael Parker

Known Aliases: World's Greatest Boat Ho
Currently Resides: Behind a computer, working for the man.
Claims to Fame: Caught a monster steelhead on his first cast with a two-hander, spends more time on the internet than google's server, enjoys longs walks on the beach and quiet nights by the fire, curled up with a bottle of dark beer and the latest copy of playboy and STS.
SRC History: Has allegedly entered 5 brats in the SRC without having won one. To quote Parker, "It is not the size of your fish, it is how you use them."
Measurements: 36x24x36.
Sexual Preference: Whatever is in season.

Insert picture of choice. Recommend grip and grin skeena fish since it as been 10 minutes since you last posted it.

Here's another shot of that piggie.

Taped out at 45 x 27. Caught it on a dry fly. Fish jumped out of the water and grabbed the fly before it even hit the water.

Parker's right... the TH rods ARE pretty cool! The reels on the other hand...

Beezer has last year's rod and Team Sky Valley has the trophy... which has our name engraved on it TWICE!

Team Sky Valley is:

CraigO
Beezer
SkySteelhead
4Salt
IrishRogue

We like beating guide's teams on their home water two years in a row, walkin' the talk, winning by ONE ounce, gettin' our rigs pissed on, eating cheap Mexican food, spending ALL of our winnings buying drinks for all of the participants, dodging flying potatoes, drinking a lot the night before and generally havin' a helluva time with some good folks.

thumbs

"There will be no attempt to knock or break a fish off with a net."
- Official SRC Rules for 2008

You can even ask my teammates, this is how I net fish. ColeyG will vouch for me. The best thing I could do for my team is volunteer as another boat's net man and actually try to do a good job. Along with f'ing up a net job this last weekend, I also nearly fell out of the boat trying to net another fish. Luckily, we managed to land that one and freeze it up after stuffing 3 pounds of lead up its arse... should be thawed by the time we hit Wilsons.

Bongtatogun anyone?

Huh.

I always though that knocking off a fish, or breaking off a fish with a net was ENCOURAGED.

Personally, EVERY netting attempt I make at someone else's fish is to either bust it off or knock it off with my net.....

Not MY fault my netting job looks like someone tomahawk chopping at a fish. wink

Kev? Bob? Robbo? We need a re-wording of that rule. Maybe.

OTOH, do we want, or not want someone to just walk up to someone fighting a fish and bust the line (with the fish no where close to being netted) with their net. Probably not.

Play by the rules in "good spirit" of the SRC, and it won't be a problem. I can't blame anyone's crappy netting skills if my fish is "knocked off", or "busted off" by a net. Shiat happens. evil

Good. I've gone 2 SRC's without touching a fish. I'd rather have all my fish busted off, or not landed, than not hook anything. A good old fashioned jinxing will do me some good!

I'll be sure to bring some bananas, too.

Note: I guess I did land the same sockeye that Dogfish did two years ago, or at least his twin brother. That doesn't count, though.
