Don't know if they still make it: Patagonia SST. I don't even remember how old mine is! (It's still perfect)

Waters West in Port Angeles has the Simms Rivershed Gortex jackets for 30% off. I suspect others do also if not give them a call. That's a very good deal for a jacket that is very similar to a G3 for a lot less money. Simms suggested retail is $300 for the Rivershed and $400 for the G3. The sale price of the Rivershed makes this a value at $200, half the price of the G3 and a nearly identical jacket.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I went with the high-end Columbia jacket for about $25.

At the end of some miserable, rainy, blowing, f'ed up day I'm about as dry as any other monkey in the boat, and I have more beer money.

I'm in the process of trying out the Redington Stratus II myself and can only say @ this point is that it's just as good as the cabelas dry plus guide wear but have not put it through the OP test yet.Good luck,

the cabela's guide wear is gore tex, not dry plus. it's a good jacket...the only thing keeping it from being a great jacket is that the monkey that designed it didn't put any hand pockets in it!

i also keep a helly-tech packable rain jacket in the trunk of my car. it's only downside is that it doesn't have waterproof cuffs, but it's been every bit as good as a gore-tex jacket. around 70 bucks if i remember correctly.

Save your money and just cut a head hole and two arm holes in a garbage bag....... You can get 100 coats for $15 at Costco and even pick from black, white or green. It works great from what I can see with all the snaggers that fish Cedar Creek on the Lewis.....

Keith is right. F- all that rain gear. Just get a hooded flannel and cut the sleeves off about half way up your forarms. That's the most badass fishing wear available and at the end of the day, throw it in the dryer and throw yourself in the shower. You'll be back to dry and you can get them at Dennis Company for like $7.99 this time of year. I could go on forever about the functionality of it.

Great idea, you could even throw this over the garbage bag to fit in a little better on the river.......

simms gear is top notch, but very expensive. it is tough to beat gore-tex for staying dry. I mean, really staying dry! what I like about the Simms G4 Guide is the pit zips. It is the only Simms jacket with them which is unfortunate since the retail lists at $500. if you look at Skiing and Snowboard jackets, pit zips are standard issue.

I own the Simms Classic Guide, but I will admit it is a little bulky for bankin' and bush whackin. the G3 and G4 are lighter, but more $$$.

I have owned inexpensive Columbia Sportswear rain jackets, but find that they do not breath well and get you wet in a total all-day downpour.
