The slush can be hard to read and frustrating to fish at times, but when you get it dialed, your catch ratios will go way up no question.

Yeah, you got me there, but if you think about it, that scenerio is alot like a summer fish situation.

+1 for steelhead

Plugging for Springers is all about the slush water, imho.

The slush is definitely reserved for the early summer steel. For some odd reason the larger plugs work better in the slush than the tried and true small summer ones.

Stroke-it stroke-it stroke - stroke.... That song reminds me of plugging........

The only plug I deploy steelhead fishing is the one into the back of my boat so I don't leak water. Especially for hatchery fish, when the natives show and the water temps drop is when I bust into my plug box...... Until then, it's bait and divers, side-drifting or drift fishing for me......

I have much to learn about reading water. I mostly fish the reservoirs and free flowing portion of the Snake, mostly from my boat. Got those figured OK but I have no clue whats going on in the smaller rivers (but want to). Thanks, doc ,for the descriptions, now I can put names to the faces. I'm sure I will have more questions as I explore new teritory.

from my experience bank fishing the satsop, it would seem like the best plug water is approximately 30 feet out from where the bankie is standing, worked through very slowly...

Chum Man must be fishing the slush. Seems like these days, everyone wants to fish the slush and nowhere else.

Pulling plugs? I thought you use the plugs, ya' know, the old spark plugs, right?, for weight and then put the bait on the hook. But then why would a fly guy know?

Plugs are for the weenies who are just a bit more manly than the Spey Pride Parade.

The slush is where the pink worm and spoons do serious damage.

Fish on...

Come to Idaho.. I'll give you a lesson in pluggin.. and rowin for that matter, because thats the whole game right there.

I don't prefere the plug, but the biggest nastiest buck in the river always seems to fall for one done right.

If its a plug deal, and you have the right guys in the front of the boat that can acually hit the "pocket" water.. its money. If its your mom and her boy freind.. you can still hit a few fish anyway. Thats the beauty of it.

On the other hand.. that pink worm is a mean sob as well.. but You need some skillz

Alright, I hate to be the one to ask, but what exactly is the slush? I'm thinking its the rifley water at the head of a pool, but just wanted to double check.

Just blowin smoke on the plugs.

Truth is, if your just learning plug anyplace that they will work and the fish will show ya exactly where you should be. The only real tip to offer is that fish are always tight to the bank it would seem. going down the middle of the river is not the best idea.

Todd, whenever Stam says is time. Feb ?? we will come over then
