If y'all think that our prisons are full of pot smokers, then y'all been smoking too much of it. Around here it's meth, and that crap is pretty scary.

I've said this before - according to the World Health Organization, American tobacco kills approximately 420,000 americans every year and approximately 3.5 million wordwide. This does not include the health problems created by smoking that are an incredible drag on our health care system.

W.H.O. also calculates that alcohol kills 110,000 americans every year - this does not include traffic deaths, just straight up alcoholism or alcohol poisoning.

These two drugs account for over half a million deaths in the U.S. alone. That is equal to all the americans killed during the entire Civil War!

But realistically, if pot were legalized, wouldn't that put a lot of Canadians and Native Americans out of business? wink grin stir

Funny how it was the #1 crop for our founding fathers then fell out of the top.......we get some jacka$$ that decides it should be illegal and it is the #1 crop again. It is a joke. I dont even smoke anymore and still think it is a joke. You dont smoke a bowl and go out to rob or murder someone. Quit chasing the pot pipe and get after the glass one.....that would be money better spent. More of uncle sam making regulations and laws to fine us and take more of our hard earned dollars. Remember....its for your own good. Protecting us from ourselves so to speak.

Yes, it should be legalized. Damn Puritan retards who apparently control so much of our law making.

Although I'm poitically moderate, I'm a drug extremist. I'd legalize 'em all. Yes Aunty, I understand the employment implications, but that will sort itself out at least on the market side as providers go legit. The law enforcement side requires re-training for a lot of people to obtain a socially useful trade. I realize that total drug legalization will result in some people offing themselves, maybe more than already do, but if the gene pool is gonna' be cleansed, it might as well begin with those who think they have nothing better to live for.

W.F. Buckley's New Republic did an outstanding story on the failed drug war in the 1990s. At that time the illegal drug trade was estimated at 100 billion dollars a year, and law enforcement of drug laws cost local, state, and federal agencies 105 billion dollars a year. There is no indication that the ratio has changed, yet out gov't can't seem to move beyond this disgracing failure. WTF is that all about?

Legalize marijuana for sure. I would rather be driven over white pass in a blizard with a driver who is baked and smoking a road joint, than a driver drunk slurping down a frosty road coldy. I wouldn't mind paying a tax if that was the deal breaker. I currently don't smoke but have in the past and might in the future. Also the drinking age should be lowered to 18. If a man or woman can potnetially be drafted to serve their country then they sure as hell better be able to buy a case of Schmidts. I hear the argument of well kids still in high school could buy for their friends. I again could live with if you're 18 you can only go booze at a bar. Legalize chron, 18 legal to drink, and out of left field wait for it......... bam legalize the prostitution.

You never know Irie. I have quite a history of debauchery. I could have met you over in Ellensburg while studying an ethich class called "You and the last quarter inch of your beer" mostly designed to engage the mind body and soul to relate to that portion and realize it needs to be loved/consumed as much as the first quarter inch of your coldy. Or we could have met in Yakima While I got s*** faced and baked studying @ Yakima Valley Community College mostly entry courses although courses conveying why limit a party to 50 when you can reachout to all branches of law enforcement to put out the flame so to speak. Man now this thread has me in that mode where I am getting enless waves of awesome memories of complete alcaholica. Good times. Great aliases. Half rack jack, maximus, pooski, Tap that keg fill my cup get me fuzzy, and real f***** up. Beautiful beautiful, beautiful keg, laying in the grass helping me get laid ok I should really open a word doc and write this then delete it to get it out of the system or I will get way out of control. Peace, Don't drink and drive

I agree with legalizing weed

if they did you probably wouldn't be able to buy any between 2 and 6 in the morning. I got a late start on the river yesterday because I was so stoned I forgot my beer at home and had to wait until 6 so I could have a brew to wash down my cotton mouth once my coffee is gone. as they say "dope is for Dopes"

Note to self: pack the boat and cooler before lighting up. LOL

I was going to leave this thread alone but I must say that I'm very surprised...somewhat shocked at the support for legalizing pot. Having never even seen, let alone smoke a joint I don't think I have much of an opinion on the matter, although the idea of taxing the hell out of it makes sense to me. Maybe put that money back in fish habitat restoration?

During a tribal ceremonial fish release in Canada, I smelled something that I thought may have been pot burning like incense or something. Later, after talking to some co-workers, I found out it was legal in BC. So I may have smelled it once but I definitely tried to avoid inhaling. grin

Just as long as I can keep my shotgun, rifle, and 4 wheel drive...along with my fishing gear...

I love these Pot threads....

As a guy that has had to enforce these laws...The pot people are not the big problem for us. It's only one when they can't get along and rip each other off, or stay too baked to pay their taxes so I can keep getting extravagent wages.

For those of you who like to partake of a little cannabis, don't get behind the wheel. Do it while your're young, you will have plenty of time to pay taxes, get a mortgage, have .2 kids and a wife and be "responsible" (and clear your criminal record). If you get busted, don't whine.

If any of you has lived the life of a hard core doper, or has seen how they live, you dont want that. A little pot smoking within reason aint so bad (not that I partake, last weed was 35 years ago). And I have to laugh at the morons who think the jails are full of pot smokers....I guess they probably were at one time...whatever....the jail doesnt even have the capacity to hold non-serious offenses down here. It's primarily felons now. And those felonies are the ones worth keeping. I honestly wish more criminals would smoke pot and stay mellow and stupid.

Perhaps some of you want true anarchy...you know...where there is no central government, no police, and we all barter on a local level for our needs. That sound pretty great....probably better if I still smoked weed and was baked. Make sure you are at the next protest with those guys and try to assault the cops like they have been doing.

You'll get your money's worth of tax funded ass whoopin...lol
