The Collapse of Capitalism and the Safety Net of Gold Although capitalism is not a Ponzi scheme, credit-based economies, sic capitalism, and Ponzi schemes share the same fatal flaw. Both must constantly expand or they are in danger of collapse. Today, because capitalist economies are no longer expanding, but contracting, their continued contraction will lead to collapse. http://www.kitco.com/ind/schoon/jan222009.html

In the past, I would have laid the cause of America’s ignorance of economic issues at the foot of corporate and government interests who gain the most in today’s corrupt environment. But the truth is the present state of ignorance and corruption could not have occurred without the abiding and willing denial of the America people.
Americans themselves have chosen denial, sound bites and slogans over substantive discourse and understanding. While in the short term it has been easier to do than the alternative, i.e. to think, in the long term it will prove fatal.
The bill for collective denial and ignorance is coming due in America; and, when it is paid—as it will be—America will never be the same. Nor, will the world

This is some thing that really came to light to me this year.I found very few people that had any knowledge to the issues.Many were proud of the fact.People are voting for the leader not on the issues.We have gotten too spoiled.People do not want to spend there time educating themselves on the issues.This is another reason I believe that our country needs to go through some REALLY HARD TIMES FOR IT TOO SURVIVE.Too many people that are taking the time to educate themselves are grabbing at the things they want to hear instead of thinking for themselves.Too many people are voting with there emotions instead of there critical thought process.When pulled into debates these same people are quick to call names and demonstrate extreme hate to cover this.Politicians are taking advantage of this to get elected.After being elected they do whatever they want and we do not want to hold them responsible.It scares the shiat out of me.

In 1787 when the United States drafted its constitution for a democratic government of the people, for the people and by the people, Professor Alexander Tyler (University of Edinborough –circa 1787) wrote about the stages of birth and death of democracy. According Alexander Tyler it takes an average of two hundred years for a democracy to mature, reach its crescendo and then revert back to bondage.
There are eight stages of democracy he observed:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage
