Anyone using one of these? I'm in the market for a float rod and have been happy with my 8'6" convergence for drifting. Just don't want to spend the coin on a Lami or Loomis. Any feedback or other recommendations would be appreciated.

I like the heck out of my 10'6" Convergence. For both River and mooching. I don't buy the status symbol stuff, not because I can't afford those rods, it just no one has been able to convince me they are worth the difference in price, except to impress others. I feel secure enough in myself not to have to impress others.

Have used the rod for "many years".......has put lot's of summer run on the bank and even a few winter run.......I also use it when I'm fishing "jacks". 10 1/2', can't just pull them in, but gets the job done!!!!!
Price should be in the $70-80 range, including tax...........if we are talking about the same rod?????

Great rod ( I assume you're speaking of the 8-17 model?).. Anyhow, if you're in the market for a moderate priced rod take a look at the Quantum coldwater series or the Berkely IM-7 series. A bit lighter than the Shimano which makes holding the rod up high while float fishing for hours a more pleasurable task. I love my convergence 8-17 for king float fishing but for steelhead, too heavy in my humble opinion.... Good luck...

I love my Convergence 10'6" 8-15#, particularly when fishing bigger water. Lots of mend, if maybe a little over-powered for brats. Picked up a Rapala 9'6" cheap, and use it for slightly smaller streams...funner for brats. I'm yet to put a nate on it, though. The Convergence is waaay heavy...maybe I'm getting jaded, but I really like a hot summer fish in a smaller stream on a 7'6" 4-10# spin rod--that cork handle really coming to life does something to a guy.
Sooo...match your rod to the fish, the size/current of the water you're fishing, and your purpose: are you playing, or harvesting?
Tight lines.
