My thinking exactly......jetboat ride from tide water....up river or just a drive to the different places......then maybe a short walk to the river....should be enough....to see if any net fishing is taking place....

Very sore subject with this one, They are netting monday thru thursday as of now, no matter what you heard or who you know on the res. And the hoh tribe is not one of the better tribes when it comes to netting practices or days of netting. As the sportfishermen got shut down last year early, the tribe netted everyday for a month and a half, not a figment of any ones imagination or bad mouthing the tribe, just the truth plain and simple. Maybe this year it might be different, only time will tell. And as for this week they did very well in the lower river. You can ask so and so about the netting or how many there getting but when one is on the river everyday and sees what is going on there need not be any asking, for I can see it for myself.

Are you limited out and done already? or did someone chase you off the river?

As was implied earlier, I guess to exist, you must subsist every day. If that's the case, what does Enforcement do?? What do they enforce? I think I want that job.

You guys are brutal! I'm now spawned out and gaff-hooked! Throw me on the bank and gut me out! And I just bought a new salmon pole! Bummer!

Nope. Not limited out. I worked in another life on the Hoh River and developed a relationship with those folks. Did a lot of spawning serveys and hatchery work, and fish clipping. We do a lot of boat drifting down that way and always palaver with the folks down there. Lately, when my buds and I drift the Hoh we've been catch and releasing--but we do it just for fun and weekend get-aways now. Steelhead seem so sparse the last couple of seasons. I guess I could hit it harder and catch more. Seem to have caught lots of dolly's this year down there.

Don't catch much fish anymore because I seem to enjoy eating my sandwhiches and drinking java while achored. Hope to snatch my yearly nate and take it home. Might catch it on the Queets systems or Hoh.

For some reason my wife won't let me fish tomorrow (Valentine's Day). Can't figure it out!

I am confused. If we are harvesting to fully exploit the available fish, why do the numbers show the tribe catching much more than 50% (1155 vs 880). How many steelhead do they think are caught by non-treaty fisherman in other fisheries and are these counted against the non-treaty fishery? or are they are counting total species in aggergate when doing the 50/50 split? Seems to me that this is a perfect example of how the 50/50 split works in real life.

The Hoh Tribe is harvesting the lion's share of both the hatchery and wild fish in the Hoh River...by agreement with the State.

Don't get me started on this one.

Fish on...

Just for the record---you can't kill a native steelhead on the Queets-- anywhere, anytime.

Sad....

The thing I"ve figured out about the tribal net schedule, its a joke, they"ll net any time they want. sometimes they"ll call it a cerimonial netting. or there fish gods say to net. this goes on from the chehalis to neah bay. just sucks

does the tribe still have a net at the mouth of the hoh? i went down there once and there was a gill net stretched river bank to river bank, 30 feet from salt water. I dont understand how a single fish could get through there?
