She'd be fine if you would just realize that's not your seat smile

Hey, I think I saw you guys from the bank on Saturday. I was with my wife, sister, and her dogs near concrete and called out to see if you'd had any luck.

I remember your dog.

It was a gorgeous day.

Just for good measure, distances are about:
Marblemount to Rockport - 10 miles
Rockport to Faber's - 5 miles
Faber's to Concrete - 5 miles
Concrete to Birdsview - 6 miles
Birdsview to Hamilton - 6 miles
Hamilton to Lyman - 5 miles

Concrete at the mouth of the Baker is usable.
The Birdsview launch is driftboat usable, but risky to launch a sled.
The Hamilton launch is badly damaged, but still usable for sleds.
Cockerham Island gravel bar is usable, but you have to back your truck at least 50 feet into the river to get a trailer deep enough to launch.
The Lyman launch (gravel bar) no longer exists, and I didn't see any place to take out there.

The upshot is that WDFW needs a major grant from the state agency Committee on Outdoor Recreation to repair most of the boat ramps on the Skagit, and that most likely won't happen until the recession is over.

Hopefully the fish come in soon.
I fished 3 out of 4 days on the Skagit at the end of last week.
Day one in a raft and my partner got one dolly.
Day two in a drift boat and I got lucky with a small buck on a plug.
Day three in a sled and we got skunked.
Beautiful weather and great company on each trip just not many fish around.
I did find out that my dog behaves well in all boats! Only bad thing he did (7 mos old) was puke some eagle [censored] into Charlies's drifter. He sat still and didn't mess with anything in the boat.
Good times just wishing for more fish.
Oh yeah I did the waders into the heater move on Charlies boat....classic.

Do you really think Marblemount to Rockport is 10 river miles Salmo? It's 6 miles via Hwy 20, which pretty much parallels the river most of the way. I'd a said 7 river miles myself if I was guessin'.

I think Rockport to Faber's is more like 4 miles and Faber's to Concrete is about the same. I can't get over how much the area just below the mouth of the Sauk has changed! For the worse too, IMO.

4Salt,

I used to have a file card pinned on my wall with the River Mile designations of each of these and other locations. It got stored away during some office move I suppose, so I'm going on memory. I do believe Rockport to Marblemount is a full 10 mile drive on Hwy 20 and then 14 to Newhalem. If these approximations aren't close enough I can nail them down to the closest meter with TOPO and lat.:long.

Rockport to marblemount is more like 7-8 road miles and yes it is close to 9-10 river miles

I'm not arguing the point... it just doesn't seem that far when we float it... ESPECIALLY when flows are over 7000 cfs. eek2 thumbs
