I am considering getting a new rod. I really wanna go with a rod that I have heard about from others. It is a Loomis Rod. It's a 11'-4" noodle rod and I wanna put a spining real on it. So naturally I have 2 questions

1. can I get it for a spining real and latter on another for bait cast so I have 1 of each.

2. Where is the best place to get a good deal on one. I can order it on the net or go to a walk in store and pay cash. Or is there somebody that will sell their's if it's in good shape? what kinda $$ am I looking at for a new one vs. GOOD used?

dcrzfitter, I have a G loomis spinning and casting rod that are 11'6" and have been using them for years but I also have a 11'6" Browning spinning that I use before the Loomis. I do not want to sell either but I would buy the Browning 1st. Not because of the price but the Browning just seems to feel much better. I am sure the Browning is alot cheaper. I think all 3 are rated for 2-4# test. I use 8# Ultra green Maxima and have taken Salmon and Steelhead over 20# on both.
The reel seat on the Browning is set up pretty poor. I tape my spinning reel on the forgrip. The factory seat is just to far back for the right feel.
You will be amazed at the power you can put on the fish with these long noodles.

Search here for posts from TH. I haven't seen any of the rods he makes but I know others have been happy with them. He custom wraps loomis blanks. From what I've seen at stores, the GL2 series will be in the 130-175 range and the GL3s run about a $100 more.

I have an 11'6inch noodle rod made by Browning and its one of the best rods I have ever owned I use a spinning reel on it that holds a hundred yards of 8 pund test line and use leaders two to six pound test. The whole idea to fishing with a noodle rod is to use small diameter leaders so the fish can't see them, but with the small diameter leader comes lower pound test so you want a limber rod, prefferably made of im6 graphite.

Loomis makes a 11'6" noodle rod in the GL2 material that goes for $175.00. Everybody sells the rod for the same price. I have a IM6 Loomis noodle rod 11 1/2 foot for a casting reel that I might part with. Loomis no longer makes a casting model of that rod. E-mail me if your interested in the IM6.
