3 Hoquiam men accused of killing 5 elk

HOQUIAM, Wash. -- Fish and Wildlife Department investigators have accused three Hoquiam men of killing five elk in Grays Harbor County and leaving them to rot.

Sgt. Matt Nixon told KXRO radio an unrelated investigation led officers to a home in Hoquiam where they found evidence in February's case.

Nixon says the three used spotlights to locate the herd and shot and killed four females and a calf.

The two 19-year-olds and one 18-year-old could face charges of shooting elk out of season.

If I were the judge; i would send those boys to summer camp. The little summer camp they hold at Fort Benning Georgia. So, you boys like guns and shootin' stuff. Wait until you meet the camp counselors.

Damn kids. Just what I thought when I heard about it. A few kids with spot lights that were probably drinking and driving around with guns. They better teach them a lesson now or it will get worse.
I can understand taking an animal to feed the family but just to let them lay. Sad.

For me that's one of the things that draws me to the Hoh. Always see elk. We have a herd that travels between north bend and sultan but they're rarely seen. On one rare trip we saw them up Ben Howard road. Around our neck of the woods it is a rare treat!
