Loc: A coastal river with fish
growing up in grays harbor, I use to here blueback alot in most of the coastal streams and they were sockeye strays all over the place especially when the quinalts had huge runs. I have never herd of a cutt called a blueback, there back is pretty green for the most part. Johns river use to have a pretty good blueback run in the late 60s to early 70s and then dissapeard I was just a little guy then. Dad and grandpa caught lots of them in the 60s on the east hoquiam. Only thing I caught in that river was bullheads and suckers....

Last time I did that this year, somebody *found* me! Not only did they find me, but they had to come share a tailout with me. Oh yeah, and once they ran out of shrimp tails for their tipped jig, guess who they came asking to see if I any bait they could have.

The best part was that I offered to tail his brat for him and he asked me "You sure you know what you're doing??"

I almost lost it at that point.

I hate fishing "alone". wink

You set yourself up for a lot more abuse than you get Parker. I for one wish to thank you, cuz entertainment is a quality of life issue. And you bring plenty of entertainment to the forum.

Blueback can be a sockeye on the Columbia or anywhere else... Kokanee also are known as bluebacks and likewise sea run cutts....

It is a slang name just like king, tyee, spring is to a chinook.
