My post about the downrigger clips got me thinking about picking up a few more lures to drag behind the boat this upcoming King Season. Just curious to see what everyones faves are for fishing Puget Sound. If I only had 2 to use this season due to the abundance of 5 to 6 inch herring I would use the cop car tomic spoon with the prism tape straight off the rigger with no flasher, and the old standby green spatterback hootchie with a mylar insert behind a green 11 inch hot spot flasher. What are your faves?

I fish 5 setups. Silver Horde Coho Killer or Sonic Edge Spoons (mostly in the outer sound) CK Colors are White Lightning, Army truck, Sonic's in UV purple or green. Hoochie and a herring strip (primarily in EB and other terminal fisheries..) Hoochie colors are Purple Haze, Aurora, green splatterback, or all glow with green stripe. Ace-Hi's in white or green splatter back Cut plug straight off the dr with only a bead chain, anywhere. & Plugs, I only fish all glow with a green stripe.

Ace-hi. It's where it's at. Kingers can't resist 'em.

What about the "mreyns special"
Coyote spoon in Funky Chicken.
That color sure produces well for BIG river kings as well.

I've successfully fished Apex lures for kings, but strangely had no luck here. All much fish came from BC on trips up near Campbell River and farther north.
Nothing like the motor mooched plug cut herring for kings... No flasher, just plain, unadulterated, slow trolled herring.
