Borax+red jellow=red eggs. I hear steelies like rasberry, but strawberry even more.... im trying strawberry now. but they arent very red, at least not the red im looking for. and im using a full pack of jello. the eggs (humpie eggs) are about the color of bright silver eggs when they are right out of the fish. is the borax needed to make the color come out more? thanks,

Years ago I used to fish with a guide named Rich Bogle on the Skagit, Cowlitz & NFL rivers and he would use the eggs from the trip B-4 & used Borax & Black Cherry Kool-Aid. He always put us on fish, Always. I really miss Rich & all those days of catchin!!

I have used cherry jello. Can't say it increased my catch rates really. I sprinkled the jello on first and then just cured the eggs as usual.

Rich was one of my fishing buddies and a great fisherman, he could find fish anywhere! He would combine jello's, like the black cherry and strawberry. I know he would try mixing the Borax and jello before curing and sometimes he would do the jello first. Both came out just fine. We had our sleds built at the same time and same place, I still have mine (1984) I have always wondered what happened to his flat bottom Skagit sled? ALSO, for all the experts out there-- Rich was probably the original Dick Nite fisherman for Salmon in the river, and we are talking late 60's.

Too bad he passed away a while back. He's just gone to a place where all the fish are "wild" and a small fish is 25 #'s plus. Have used raspberry and strawberry jello but you are $$$$$$$$ ahead to buy some of the "Beau Max dye" and learn to apply the proper amount.

thanks for the tips guys. ill continue my experimenting untill i find that special cure.
ive tryd adding jello to my secret cures already, so far i havent been happy. i feel the jello took away from my cures i have already.
thanks again to everyone.
