$hit, Tony, I just found the CD of teh Deschutes pics that I was gonna send out a LONG time ago to you... sorry, my desk is less than organized at the moment. I'll get it out ASAP... and yes on the winters (think Jan-mid Feb.)

and my old school Loomis IM6 rods, 1141S and 1141C.

Oh the memories! 2 Biggest mistakes Loomis made was discontinuing the IM6 series and elimination of the 1141C as a production model back in the day.

As to the thread question......

My Sage rods.

A close second would be a gear bag I sling over my shoulder when beating the brush bank fishing. I throw the essentials in the bag and it's easy access right at my hip......beats fumbling around with all those damn vest pockets. I use this constantly and thank my dad for introducing me to the idea when I was a sprout.

A hook file and my Lamiglas hat....
My hat has been through allot, most recently flying out of Cougs boat and me netting it back up. That thing has some fish blood and mojo on it though, would suck to lose it to the river gods....

Furuno electronics:

fish finder, for obvious reasons.
plotter, to put me on my favorite halibut/ling spots.
radar, for dodging 20-30 seiners and their nets and skiffs on my way to the fishing grounds in thick fog.

It better have some egg goo, or it's not a real fishin hat! Unless it looks like a hippy/Kaiser hat, then cleaner is better.

Losing a good fishing hat has put me in a several day funk that has been hard to shake. The last time it happened, my three day old $100 polarized shades went with the hat as I poked my head over the windshield for a quick look at the parking spot. I was much less than pleased and it was a sad day indeed.

Many years ago I watched a guide turn around and chase down a hat that had blown off in what looked like a class three rapid on the Copper, river with a boat load of folks in tow.

Never take the power of a tried and true head covering for granted.

Schoenweiss jiggles his pink worm when fishing sucks.
