Is the meat stringy and tough by the time a buck sports a rack that huge? If so, what does a hunter do with it?

Westside it is.

Got this thing about blacktails.

Love em!

Had a decent fork opening morning spotted directly on top of a ridge. Wouldnt let my 14 year old kid take the shot (100 yards tops). We were below the deer.

No background - no shot!

Teaching a youg hunter proper ethics.

The kid is still pissed at me. rofl

This westside thing has me all screwed up. Been eastside all my life, didn't draw for the first time this year. With no other options, I bought 'this' tag...but don't know quite what to do with a tag for mouse deer in soaked blackberry devil's club jungles. Figured the tag $$ may help to contribute to my job for another year, so I figured what the heck..

Does anyone know what general area this buck was killed in? Once again general area. Just curious if its close to where I have hunted in the past?

Looks like SE Idaho to me...somewhere between Twin Falls and Idaho falls in the sage to the south of I 84...lots of huge deer in those areas.

Thats one helluva buck! Does boone and crocket scores mean anything in velvet? For some reason I thought BC won't recognize velvet racks, anyhow nice kill.

Word from Idaho articles is that this guy is planning on keeping rack in velvet so will not be scored for record book purposes. It might score record proportions but will not be recognized as such..What a tough decision...strip the velvet and grab the brass ring or leave it the way it is and preserve the memory...
