My friend, Don Edge, found these in some old public archives. Thought you might like to see them. Enjoy!

I especially like the rowed boats and names of boat rental places, now long gone. I seem to remember that there were once 80 boat rental places in Puget Sound. I can remember about six in Kitsap County alone.

Very cool. I like that first shot a lot. It almost looks like they are just standing around, shooting the shlt, while casually holding onto a bunch of salmon. smile

I like the last one best...with the Ferry and Smith Tower in the shot.

All are fun to look at though. So, Dave, what kind of rod is that in your steelhead photo? Looks like a really sensitive tip. smile

Thats the old pool cue granger. No nonger made. You can catch the fish and bonk it with the same rod. Damn I wish i had some of the rods my dad fished steelhead with in the 50s.

Great photos, Dave. I've kept so many old fishing annuals and guides for no other reason than to enjoy old "trophy" photos like these, to remember the old resorts and boathouses that no longer exist, and to look at the tackle commonly used then, commonly collected now. Our family moved to Wa in 1956. In those days, we fished both Sekiu and Elliot Bay in wooden kickerboats powered by an old green 5 hp Mercury. Caught my first steelhead in the Green River on opening day in 1956, just above the Renton Junction bridge. Spent the rest of that season learning the river between Allentown and Soos Creek. Your picture with the fish on the bank looks like the Soos Creek drift...back in the day.

Great shots, DV!

Funny how no one wore their life jackets back then either.
