One of my Lamies lost a goround with the spring on my garage door. When I got it out of the spring I see there is a gouge in the finish. It goes through the clear coat and through the brown layer, but doesn't seem to be into the meat of the rod. Is there anything I can do to save this rod, or is it toast?

Just bring it to Nicaragua and attempt to land a Tarpon with it.

If it snaps, it's toast.

If you land the fish, it should be ok for Steelhead.

sure, no problem! thumbs

It will probably break, but you won't really know until you go out and use it. Makes for a great story when it does break.

Or, just call up Posey and have him replace it for you.

Your call.

Not a real good test as it's rated for 4-8 lb line.

I had a similar divot in one of my wife's G1000 series and it snapped on the first cast. Lamiglas replaced it after I admitted that I had smunched it in the tailgate of the truck. replaced it eventhough it was my fault! Gotta love em!

No doubt Lami will repleace it, but I was hoping it could be saved. I do know they appreciate honesty. If you just tell them you were yarding on a snag they are even happier to replace it then if you broke it "on a big native".

I wouldn't count on it surviving the first time it takes a good shock...like setting the hook on a fish.

Fish on...

Try a dab of super glue and some duct tape.

One thing you could try is a super hard 2 part clear epoxy on it. But that would make the warranty null and void wouldn't it. That or throw it in the river.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

If I was worried about it, I would place a wrap over the damaged area and coat it just like a guide wrap.
Choose a thread color that is similar to the blank.

It's about preserving hoop strength.

The tape would make it a geek rod.
If you're OK with that, then what the hey.
